Why not DRDO can make it with help of Israel if they are unable to put a world class design by its own ... they can save billions of $.
The MCIWS is still going to be the MAIN assault rifle of the IA into the future under the FINSAS program but it is 4+ years away from entering service in large numbers.
The MCIWS ha already been undergoing field trails for 2+ years now with the IA, it's not going to take more than 4 years for it to enter service. And the 4+ years thing is your own estimate. MSMC, a simpler sub machine gun was introduced in 06, with all the redesigning and trials, it was ready in 2013-14. This rifle is much more complex.

MCIWS has a gr8 future. Modi govt need indigenous stuff, this is the best.
If Indian formation requires other rifle rather than MCIWS then why not to provide TAVOR which is already in service with Special Forces ? why to make a tender for new rifle not to begain producing TAVOR with in India as they have license to manufacture don't they. And this is based on what kind of data?

I've already stated again and again the purpose for the foreign Multi-cal rifle and carbines is NOT to kill off the indigenous MCIWS or replace the INSAS in the entire IA BUT to replace the INSAS in certain select units- , RR, air independent airborne brigades and such (NOT SOFs though). The MCIWS is still going to be the MAIN assault rifle of the IA into the future under the FINSAS program but it is 4+ years away from entering service in large numbers. For the likes of RR waiting around another few years for a replacement to their antiquated AKs and INSAS is not acceptable.
The IA know what they are doing and unless you can make a valid case for these foreign Multi-cal rifles not to be inducted for these SELECT units, I'd advise you to keep quiet.
That's not definitive at all.

. For one, its not engineered by the ofb, but rather by Alpha tech Ltd., a private firm based out of bangalore i think. Only the barrel is made by the ofb, and is similar to the insas in certain terms. That shouldnt be a problem, because the latter has a beautiful barrel.
I've had to remove my video, as i was contacted by higher ups to take it down.
But as someone who has had a few chances to play around with it. Dont be fooled by its rather simplistic looks.
This gun is more ergonomical than a tavor, and easier to point than an ak.
A the moment of writing, 7 protoypes exist, and a sum total of ~12000 rounds have been fires under range conditions, with problem being due to faulty ammo. THe ia has a sure winner on their hands
As someone who has had some amount of play time with both, let me tell you that the problem with the msmc is not one of reliability. Its one of ergonomics. The gun has a terrible weight distribution, and should have been much lighter for the size, Its hard to point up. Nothing impossible, but for sustained periods where exhaustion comes into play, you're going to have troubles.
Its not small/light enough to be fired with one hand at short ranges either.
The mciws is a different ball game alltogether. For one, its not engineered by the ofb, but rather by Alpha tech Ltd., a private firm based out of bangalore i think.
