^^The last batch of 42 MKIs which added to the 230 ordered by then is a deal signed and sealed ages ago!

The new deal seeks to procure 42 more MKIs (making the figure 310+), has been signed just now!

No it wasn't since the Super 30 standard is still not fixed yet and not to mention that the 4two were only needed because of the crashes in the recent years to replace the lost once. There was only an intention to buy more, but now finally the deal has been signed and lets hope that the upgraded will be finalised soon too.

Russia has always been more supportive of India. It is good to see the US and India coming together recently and preforming military exercises. I can actually see India playing a role of deterrence in any possible future conflicts between Russia and US.

This is a good deal, because this will fill in the gap until FGFAs and AMCAs are inducted. I think the rafael deal was terrible deal, we could have bought 400-500 super sukhoi which is a much better deal. On the other hand though we are getting TOT of French avionics, radars ext. and we may get the meteor bvr A2A missile. But even then the super sukohois would have been 10x better deal we would have gotten 5x as many aircrafts that basically no other aircraft in Asia could match except the fifth generation aircrafts being developed by China, Russia and India. The mi-17 v5 deal is good because it replaces the old transport helicopters while filling the gap till Indian Multirole Transport Helicopter( IMRH) was inducted.
