Putin has ordered Russia to unplug itself from the Internet

Russia is preparing itself to be disconnected from the World Wide Web. The Lower House of Parliament passed in the first reading a law ensuring the security of the Russian part of the internet.
The bill envisions the ‘Runet’ – the Russian segment of the internet – being able to operate independently from the rest of the world in case of global malfunctions or deliberate internet disconnection. The measures to ensure internet stability include the creation of a national DNS system that stores all of the domain names and corresponding IP numbers.

The new legislation was drafted in response to the new US cyber strategy that accuses Russia, along with China, Iran, and North Korea, of using cyber tools to “undermine” its economy and democracy. It also threatens dire consequences for anyone conducting cyber activity against the US.

The autonomous system would ensure that Russia doesn’t face a total internet shutdown if relations with the West completely collapse and the US goes as far as cutting off Russian IP addresses from the World Wide Web.

Back in 2012, then-US President Barack Obama signed an executive order allowing him to take control of all communications on American soil, including those crucial for the normal operation of the internet.

The US National Security Agency actually caused a three-day internet blackout in Syria in November 2012, whistleblower Edward Snowden told Wired magazine. NSA hackers accidently ‘bricked’ one of the core routers while trying to install spyware on it.

The West has already won. for puny Crimea you have alienated Ukranian nationalists. You have sanctions on Russia.
The West is crumbling. Trump in USA, Yellow chests in France, Brexit and so on. There are more and more pro-Russian forces in almost every country of Europe. Almost every ally of yours is seeking for good relations with Russia. And Russia is started to regain territories first time after Gorbachev era. We are in the beginning of great returning to world arena. You are in the end of your post-1991 world order. Be ready for hard times.

Trump was elected by narrowest of margins. He promised a crackdown on brown skinned immigrants and free trade with China.

What does it mean to be pro-Russian ? What does Russia have to offer ?

The Baltics, Poland, Ukraine are anti-Russian

Even if Russia has a Black Sea Fleet what good is it ? It is bottled by Strait of Dardenelles

Take of a Russian guy on this:

Just to clarify:

This used condom of a plan they have in mind was in the works for years. First codename was Cheburashka (Чебурашка), several alternatives followed. They will never come to implement the whole thing, the show is set up just for our corrupt government to steal all the funding for these projects. Media here likes to keep it quiet on the topic, it seems that western media loves these kind of news though.

good move..through internet USA and Israel spy on everyone.

unless you want a war you do not do that
plus there is redundancy

there is some country who wont back off unless threaten by a war, Submarine wont just cut main cable and leave redundancy alone

Good riddance. EXCEPT, unfortunately, it will bring more misery to the Russian people, all for the self-aggrandizement of Czar Putin.
I don't think so. The Russian internet is already pretty much isolated from the rest of the world. Besides, this is just a test. The authorities a.k.a. the Kremlin will follow closely how the Russian economy, society and state are going to react in a case of total digital blackout. This is not a bad idea at all, don't you think? They're preparing for war. "By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail", said Mr. Benjamin Franklin once - and he's right.

Pro-Russian is anti-liberal, conservative, spiritual, anti-"world order", pro-sovereign, pro-national state, pro-independent from Western tyranny. Russia can offer military advisors, arms, UN veto, space technologies, nuclear technologies, oil and gas and other resources and technologies.
Independent states respect Russia. Only Western puppets do not. West has no clue how to respect other nations. You are colonists and always will be. Till the very end.

you cannot disrupt international commerce. Even China and pakistani cheerleaders in the West will be hit hard

it is ancient stuff and good for making war. some of us like to live in peace.

can you provide semiconductor technology, renewable resources, environmental technology, medical drugs to extend human life ?
you should try developing that for a change. may be Russia's standing may rise a notch or two

Great move by Russia, now the usual suspects aka the muricans and their fierce lapdogs are whining and crying in this thread again.

It is better to prepare for the next wave of sanctions. It is reaction, not action.

Is there anything left for which US can sanction you? Your own agricultural market has boomed due to Chinese demand, so that relieves a lot of pressure on imports for Russia. Weapons-wise you are self-reliant. Your shipping industry is self-reliant. Your civil aviation industry is now mostly foreign, but that is something you can always go back to in a swift moment.

The only thing I can think off is shutting down Mac and Windows OS sales release in Russia, consumer goods such as fashion brands etc.

Russia is preparing for massive nuclear war as nato is deploying nukes at its borders. When they got threatened by u.s and allies they may launch preemptive nukes on u.s and u.k

No they aren't.

They are testing their readiness.

NATO is not insane to attack Russia and neither is USA.

They will continue using mercenaries and 'proxies' to fight each other.

M.A.D exists for a reason and US doesn't have enough military superiority to pull a complete victory.

A US-Russia war won't be a war - it would be 1 week of conventional fighting and then straight nuclear.
