MULTAN: Punjab government has earmarked over Rs.303 billion in the fiscal year 2015-16 budget for the development of South Punjab.
As many as 10 mega projects will be completed with Rs. 300 billion funds including Rs. 26 billion for Metro Bus project in Multan
Rs 30 billion for provision of clean water to the people in 11 districts of South Punjab, said an official release issued here on Friday evening.
An amount of Rs. 150 billion will be spent for the establishment of Quaid-e-Azam solar park in Bahawalpur while more than Rs 67 billion to be spent on the construction and maintenance of roads at rural areas in the next fiscal year.
Similarly, over Rs. 9 billion will be spent on Khawaja Ghulam Fareed engineering & information technology university Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur veterinary university, Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif university in Multan and extension of 500 beds at Tayyip Erdogan hospital in Muzaffargarh, it added.
Poverty elimination programme was being introduced in South Punjab while Rs 4 billion have been allocated for poverty elimination in Bahawalpur, Bahawalgagar and Muzaffargarh districts. While over Rs 1 billion will be spent for the development in Cholistan under Punjab CM development package.
A sum of Rs 10 billion will be spent on various projects to control the flood wastage due to hill torrent at DG Khan and Rajanpur areas.
More than Rs. 3 billion have been allocated for the development of tribal areas of DG Khan while over Rs. 4 billion will be spent for the construction of 70 kilometre dual way road from Bahawalpur to Hasilpur, concluded the release
