Punjab government announces tax on pets
NEW DELHI: Punjab residents who wish to keep pets and other animals will now have to pay taxes on them, ANI has reported.
A Punjab government notification on Tuesday said that people in the state who wish to keep domestic animals will now be taxed.
Those who wish to adopt pets will mandatorily need to obtain a yearly license from the authorities.
The tax rates are as follows: Animals like dogs, cats, pigs, sheep and deer, will be taxed Rs 250 annually. For animals like buffaloes, bulls, camels, horses, cows, and elephants, the tax has been fixed at Rs 500 a year.
