ISLAMABAD: The first audit report has reported irregularities and corruption to the tune of Rs270 billion in 40 government departments and ministries under its tenure.

According to Geo News, the auditor general of Pakistan has prepared the audit report of 2019-20 after conducting an audit of 40 government ministries and departments.

The audit revealed corruption and fake receipts in ministries and departments to the tune of Rs12.56 billion. It stated that recovery cases of Rs79.59 billion in federal ministries were reported and a record of Rs17.96 billion was not provided to the auditor general by government departments.

The report further said that Rs8.89 billion in corruption cases had been recorded owing to weak internal controls and cases worth Rs152.20 billion were reported due to poor financial management.

The auditor general recommended that government institutions not be allowed to undertake expenditures unless approved from the parliament and similarly, to not allow supplementary grants to these institutions without the parliament's approval.

He recommended that corruption cases be handed over to investigative agencies.

Geo News, Dawn news....I’ll wait for the official report.

However if true, previous governments did it so PTI is doing as well.Nothing different, Nothing changes. The disappointment is PTI brought hope that this time it was going to be different.

I am going why i voted for PTI , one of the main reason was to eliminate this curse of Corruption. Government must eliminate the source of corruption and take steps which will stop this from happening. Although according to report there is reduction of 98% as compared to previous year but still its hundreds of billions in corruption.
Government should make public who were the main reason of these corruption . Catch other than Grade 18 or below and catch big fishes. Bring back the money. Really disappointed to see the big crocodile abroad.

You can't totally eliminate it. Trim it down yes, but you're asking for efficiency of 100%. Not possible in the real world.

Corruption in Pakistan is a pandemic ie in all section and layer of society, but mostly in the upper class tier. This tier includes military officers, real estate developers, land owning mafia, politicians, judges, etc... If you want to get rid of corruption you have to also start auditing these players. Military spending should be 100% under the governments audit. Same goes for judges. They should be audited for irregularities in their assets and holdings ie why does a judge who makes RS 1,000,000 a year have RS50,000,000 in assets?

Start be giving local councils and governments more power to perform audits. Land revenue collection should be in the local govts hands as it is in the west/china. China itself can be a model in local governance and development. China allow local governments to sell off state held lands in cities like Beijing, Shenzen, etc... to real estate developers at cheap prices in the outer suburbs. The real estate developers were able to build large residences, home, apt buildings etc... at a low cost to consumers. The local govts later benefitted immensely by the land-tax revenue that all these new developments provided. This goes on and on... Allowing them to reinvest in their infrastructure, now look at these cities today a few decades later.

All corruption has local problems and solutions at the end of the day. The solutions to tackling corruption in Karachi may be different from Faisalabad or Islamabad. Give local officials full power to tackle this menace in the cities/towns where they live.

Have a scaling system in place that only those local officials who increased their tax revenue and provided development in their districts will be promoted to the state level then federal level and so on.Have a strong system of checks and balance in place so that if any official is caught doing any corruption that they serve minimum 15 years to life in prison. Same how the CCP does in China.

The federal govt in power holds large amounts of land, they should give the local govt these same powers. This would diminish the power of the land mafia as well.

I promise you.. put 1,000 of the top politicians, judges, military officials, police, bearocrats, etc all in 1 jail at the same time and keep them there in miserable conditions until they all 1,000 return their loot.

Merely focusing on politicians or business people who are corrupt will only get rid of maybe 10% of corruption. You have to go after all the other players and the people will be with you.

.
kick out those who did corruption

.
IK Can Start By Firing All Those Corrupt Bureaucrats Who Did Corruption and Got Plea Bargain From NAB And Then Go To Those Who Looted Money Under BISP These Are Air Tight Cases.

Another Thing He Can Do Is Check Bureaucrats For Their Dual Nationality

Also The Three Army Officers Kicked Out By Raheel Sharif Because of Corruption Should Be Investigated By NAB

In this day and age of cheap smartphones (my kachrawala has an android lol), we need digital money similar to the digital RMB. Every debit automatically screened for legitimacy and taxed appropriately. If the system detects an unusual amount, funds are held until vetted by at least 3 different bureaus. Cash should also be trimmed down to maximum of 500 PKR bank notes.

It's the report for the whole system the complete chain of babus and bureaucracy. If the report says decrease in 98% I will take it any day and celebrate, that means PTI has brought a lot of improvement.
