PTI calls for stern action against Faisal Vawda

KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) spokesman Naeemul Haq apologised to the people of Karachi where his fellow party member Faisal Vawda staged a protest, causing massive traffic jams on many major roads including the main Shahrah-e-Faisal thoroughfare.

“I apologise for the irresponsible act of Vawda. I myself was stuck in traffic for four hours”, he said talking to Geo News.

"Stern action should be taken against Faisal Vawda", he added.

While condemning the protest, he said that Vawda caused trouble to people.

Another PTI leader Imran Ismail said that the party had nothing to do with the protest.

He also said that they were in contacts with high-ups for the release of Vawda.

Vawda was detained by Karachi police and was transferred to Airport Police Station earlier.

The police also resorted to baton-charge to disperse the demonstrators participating in the civil society protest.

Thousands of citizens were stuck in traffic while trying to return home after offices hours due to the traffic jam near Star Gate caused by the civil society protest.

some pti karachi official are losers,vawda is far better than these no good officials .this Naz Baloch,Ali zaidi and specially naeem ul haq are back stabbers .cant get votes cant do any work on ground.vawda is doing practical work be it going to london against Altaf,going to NAB to give testimony and evidence on corruption done in Karachi,providing proofs of other companies of Panama sharif.I hope these no good losers be replaced based on there performance.

As i said Vawda is far better than present PTI Karchi officials and very active .They fear if he is given any official responsibility at high level in PTI Karachi he will start replacing present officials with some competent PTI members who actually do work.

He was coming back from NAB giving them evidence of land corruption in Karachi.PPP gundas can do such attempt.Also he has been to uk to give evidence against Altaf Hussain so mqm factor cant be dismissed they are also named in murder of PTI's Zahira Shahid in Karachi after elections in 2013 when Altaf gave threats to PTI openly.

Pti is loosing all the grounds thanks to IK because of its stupid policy and no interest in karachi, people are now looking into mqm again and mqm still in the hearts of karachites, whatever Altaf said people give a damn and will vote to them as mqm representing urdu speaking community just like PPP representing sindhi community and nawaz shareef represents punjabis. A very unfortunate story of Pakistan where 95% of people votes because of their community.

KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s Karachi leader Imran Ismail has said their colleague, Faisal Vawda, who was taken into custody for blocking Sharae Faisal in protest, acted alone.

Hundreds of protesters blocked the main Sharae Faisal at Star Gate on Wednesday, demanding the government to ‘end Pakistan’s problems’.

According to Traffic East SP Qamar Rizvi, hundreds of people thronged the Star Gate at around 3pm, after which traffic diversions were arranged through Karsaz Road and Rashid Minhas Road.

Police detain PTI leader Faisal Vawda in Karachi

Rizvi said commuters travelling towards the airport were asked to take University Road using Model Colony Graveyard Road.

Later, negotiations were initiated between the law enforcers and the protesters, supervised by Malir SSP Rao Anwar.

A few hours later, Airport police SHO Mithal Bhurghri took Vawda into custody after the negotiations failed as he refused to end the protest.

As a result, clashes erupted between the protesters and the police.

Talking to The Express Tribune, Ismail said that he has been tasked by party leaders, including chairman Imran Khan, to look into the matter as Vawda ‘was not following party orders’.

“He organised this protest in his individual capacity and the PTI had no thing to do with it,” he said, adding that the party leadership has taken notice of the incident and will inquire about the matter from Vawda.
