PTI calls for electronic voting machines in upcoming elections

yes another drama of pti
were they on chaars since 4 years
why didnt they propose these reforms in election since 2013
because they are not serious in any of it

A Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader said the ECP had been asked to publish advertisements inviting two tenders for the purchase of 400 and 300,000 EVMs.

The last meeting of the sub-committee was informed that 400 EVMs would be used during by-elections under a pilot project to see their results while 300,000 EVMs would be required to conduct the general elections in 2018 in one phase.

The PTI leader said EVMs could be used in the 2018 elections if the political leadership showed sincerity.

Law Minister Hamid said the sub-committee had accepted some recommendations of the ECP regarding unified election rules under which the ECP would unify all rules related to elections and bring them into a book form. It will be done for the first time in the country.

About the salary structure of ECP members, Mr Hamid said a bill had been prepared in this regard and it would soon be presented in the National Assembly for a debate. “We hope that we will have consensus on this bill in the Senate as well.”

About the issue of voting rights for overseas Pakistanis, the minister said the sub-committee would review its modus operandi at the next meeting.

He said the National Database and Registration Authority chairman had been directed to ease the process of registration of voters.

The committee unanimously rejected a proposal regarding change in procedure for Senate elections. “Almost all parliamentary parties have rejected the proposal and now the matter will be referred to the main committee,” Mr Hamid said.

looks like the same proposal was given to reham khan by imran khan

It is easier to hack through electronic voting with little trace to none. A traditional voting system is working fine which is being used all over the world provided Pakistan army secures the election day to ensure that the integrity of the voting system is not compromised. Also, if compromised, that leaves the trace behind to demand re-accountability later.

People from overseas should not be allowed to vote even though they contribute heavily remittance back to the nation. Loyalty of people from overseas should be with those nations they live in just like people in Pakistan should only be allowed to vote for the political party. No exception.

Every citizen of Pakistan should have the right to vote. Disenfranchisement of any sort should not be tolerated. No legal Pakistani citizen should be denied the right to vote based on their race, creed, gender, nor residency. Period.

They are still Pakistani though and as long as they have a valid NIC they should be allowed to vote because they have a Pakistani identity card because them being out of Pakistan or not should not make a difference because you see when these politicians finish their terms even they don't spend their time in Pakistan and we're talking about people who are concerned about Pakistan hence them wanting their right to vote for he betterment of Pakistan and the people of Pakistan

It doesn't matter. People from overseas are not acquainted with the ground reality in Pakistan as people in Pakistan do especially their acquainted with the local politics. It is not fair for local Pakistanis to leave Pakistan at the mercy of overseas Pakistanis since they are not in local Pakistanis' position to understand their predicaments.

Loyalty of overseas Pakistanis goes with those nations they live in. It is not fair to those nations either which can pose conflict of interest depending on the foreign policy of those nations.

Thats another big hypocritical thing i have read and again its from you. So as per you Pakistan is happy to take our money but not give us our right to vote and on top of that you are questioning our loyalty as well.

Australia gives its overseas citizen the right to vote either by postal voting, or by going to any Australian embassies or missions.

British citizen also have rights to vote when overseas.

So you think people of Sindh that have been voting PPP for decades are aware of the ground realities better than Overseas Pakistanis.

Happy to take money? That money goes to family through Pakistan as platform. And some charitable projects as well which is great deeds. If people are expecting in return for charity, then it is not charity at all. As for contribution to the family, that is their family matter.

I am sure some nations give rights to vote for overseas, but that doesn't change the fact about the conflicts of interest, does it? We are talking about the fate of nation dependable on the overseas Pakistanis where their loyalty are alligned with the nations they live in. It is not ideal scenario at all.

If there is no conflict of interests, then you have case.

Beside those links you posted prepares the form for national citizens going overseas or live in overseas as national citizen can vote through the digital platform in sites. Remember, it is about casting the votes for those nations [as national citizens] while living in overseas for several reasons; work visa, trip visa,...etc.

Those cannot vote for Pakistan since those sites are not about Pakistan at all. If overseas Pakistanis are national citizens in those nations they live in, then they are not entitled to vote for Pakistan that might invite conflict of interests.

Overseas Pakistanis could only vote for their own districts MNA, it will not change things for interior sindh considering low number of sindhis outside Pakistan.

Overseas Pakistanis with NIC are still Pakistanis.

Background is not the issue here. Once you are national citizen in the nation you live in, then it will be conflict of interests for both nations.

So you think people of Sindh that have been voting PPP for decades are aware of the ground realities better than Overseas Pakistanis.

That is their calls. You cannot force them otherwise nor they can you. It is democracy for reason.

Now we talk about technically for the requirement, once overseas Pakistanis are national citizens in those nations they live in, then they should not be allowed to participate in the virtual election of Pakistan deciding the fate of Pakistan while their loyalty lies somewhere else. It is matter of conflict of interests.
