KARACHI (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Member National Assembly (MNA) and Fixit founder Alamgir Khan, who was taken into custody by the police following a clash between the members of his campaign and die-hard workers of the Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP), has been released after brief arrest on Sunday.
The arrest was made when reached Teen Talwar area of the metropolis to address a press conference after the die-hard workers of the Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) clashed with the members of the Fixtit movement.
The PPP workers had been seen carrying batons, while several workers of both parties were injured. Dozens of wounded men were shifted to hospital for medical assistance.
Police intervened in the fight and brought the situation under control after multiple arrests. Police also baton charged the protesters.
On the other hand, Alamgir Khan said that the Sindh government was behind today’s incident.
He further demanded the authorities to release other members of the FixIt.
The MNA went on to say that the workers of the PPP tortured activists of his campaign over the protest and they vandalized vehicles and used weapons.
Fixit had staged a sit-in outside office of the Provincial Minister of Sindh for Local Government.
Meanwhile, Sindh Minister for Local Bodies Saeed Ghani lashed out at FixIt campaigners, saying that "there are other ways to record protest". "They drew pictures on manhole covers and staged cheap protests," the minister complained.
