What's new

PSF the student wing of the secular, ethinic party ANP instigated mob to kill Mashal Khan.

Civilization is a hoax, i was approaching this matter from another philosophical school of thought, i thought u would knw about this....anyhow yes leaving that debate aside i agree that rule of law is not only a feature of social order but it is its very corner stone..

And would you say there is Rule of Law in Pakistan, or not?

The condition of our rule of law is worse than a lot of other nations and better than some....it will be going too far to say it doesnt exist here yet there is a clossal room for improvement.

Under what base have you labeled ANP as a "secular and liberal" party ? Funny because I remember when women were harassed in PTI jalsas I remember the same arguement was put up but this time it was the members of PTI who were called "liberal and secular".

Coming back to your claim. You think the "secular and liberal" ANP members decided to kill ANOTHER secular person and justify it using the same law they are supposedly trying to defame ? Are you seriously that covered in tinfoil. And at anyone screaming hypocrisy. Remember that liberal words hurt a lot less than extremist bullets.

This law is imperfect. End of discussion.

Fair statement overall, I would agree. Do laws like those for blasphemy help improve the Rule of Law, where court proceedings cannot even say what is alleged to have been said by the accused for fear of falling afoul of the law itself? How does that even work?

In a court of law every piece of evidence is recorded and presented, its not blasphemy when the law probes an issue....i would spit on a court of law who doesnt examine or state evidence no matter how it may offend those present yet in my knowledge that is not how pakistani courts operate, they are not local jirga's, if a case is presented they examine the evidence...do u seriously think its the blasphemy law which causes the people to commit mob justice? On the contrary it encourages them to hand the suspects over to be prosecuted by law, its the abscene of trust in courts and legal system of this nation that leads people to commit these hineous acts...its not different from any other law in this country, as i said to resolve problems one has to approach the core issue, alot of things are symptoms while the real virus remains hidden, the intellectual circles of our nation are guilty of trying to treat the symptoms yet ignoring the core desease...

With the above bieng said i have mixed feelings about the death penality in this law, according to me the death penalty hinders the implementation of this law...its a big thing for the state to take human life on pretext of words said no matter how insulting those words be.... i rememeber here an instance where the holy prophet( pbuh) expressed sadness on a passing funeral procession of a jew by saying" another soul has escaped me to hell"

Imprisonment of 5-7 years with parole is a much appropriate penalty for crimes of blasphemy and more easily implementable too...

If you don't know, it was secular lynching.
Nothing to do with law, which always require evidence before sentence.

I am sure @Azlan Haider will be able to guide us here, given my previous post.

IK don't care about public affairs.
When someone draw attention of PTI to some pressing public issue or state negligence, they simply state we are not opposition.

You want a person to spend 1/7th of their life in jail because they upset your feelings ?
