One proposal for linking Gwadar with Karachi along Makran Coastal Highway is 700 km and second aims Linking Gwadar with Jacobabad via Turbat, Punjgur, Besima and Khuzdar is 1048 km, an official of Pakistan Railways told APP.

A PC-II amounting to Rs. 135.500 million for carrying out feasibility studies of the above mentioned proposed links has been approved by Planning Commission for which funding would be provided in fiscal year 2014-15.

The official said that actual ground work would commence after completion of the feasibility study.

Future planning is nice but I don't know when it will happen. I don't have any hope of rail extension for the next 10 years

What am concerned about is the security situation in the area, railway tracks are already being blown up, what will happen when they will be laid down especifically for economic reasons,

Thank you China and all those who countries who are helping Pakistan. We as the common man can only wish and hope that these projects complete without any hurdles.

But i thing that Via Karachi is more economical but we need to understand that it may help our alternative route to Gwadar and economic development in rural areas.

Karachi-Gawadar would be a better route until there is peace and stability in interior Baluchistan. A few decades down the road, both routes should be in operation.

Does Pakistan have enough rail garias? It needs to have more services before making tracks. It's like the movie snowpiercer, a track across world with one train.
