Which is better: Windows 7 32 bit or Windows 7 64 bit?
Friends please share your experience and knowledge.

64 bits is ofcourse better theoratically. But to make real use of it always try to find the 64bit softwares otherwise its not of much use. Slowly software built on 64bit architecture is increasing though.

If you have 4 GB or more RAM, then 64-bit is better, and if you have less than 4 GB RAM, then 32-bit is better.

64-bit means it has 64 registers, and can address large amounts of memory. There isn't much benefit in moving to 64-bit, unless the software is optimized to utilize all 64 registers and huge amounts of memory.

The benefit would be 4-5 % improvement in running 64-bit software, and a penalty of 1-2% while running 32-bit software on 64-bit OS.

So your decision should be dependent on amount of RAM, not performance benefit.

You can't truly go over 4 GB of Ram in a 32 bit OS. Enough said.

64bit is the way to future and there are no cons really. Almost all apps are now available in 64 bit flavor as well many 32 bits apps can run on 64bit windows utilizing the WoW64 framework.

32Bit with its 2GB per process limit is way obsolete by todays standards.

On 64bit architecture you gota have 64bit OS or else the 32bit OS will render half of the adress space useless and all that hardware will do nothing.
However the for 64 bit OS try to find the drivers and softwares of 64 bit compatability as they would run faster rather than 32bit drivers or softwares.
This is a paradighm shift in consumer(home, gaming) computing and Microsoft was not even abel to manufacture an API untill the mid 2010 to handel both 64bit and 32 bit softwares on a single OS plateform. the Windows 7 will run 32 bit also but it wont be good as for true performance youl need 64bit softwares.

Actually from begining in 1990s to up till now application coders have been making apps and writing codes for the 32bit architecture none ever for a 64bit but since the begining of 2009 alot of effort and R&D has been going on in almost every IT related major company to facilitate there users with apps written 64bit coding paradigm. HP for example didnt even had 64bit drivers up till late sep 2010. They do hav em now.
This best thing about this architecture is, you can hook multiple processors and huge amount of storage.

Ye 2 number kam he(Jugardh). It wont give you the true performance as expected from a bulky hardware...However it will be abel to run those 32bit apps.

64 bit Hands down!!!

32 bit installation time on my PC : around 30 min

64 bit installation time** on my PC : around 10-12 mins (i installed it 3 times just to be sure)

**Time between inserting windows disk and the desktop appearing for the first time
