Prompt Action On Border Pushes Pak To Offer Olive Branch, Says Both Sides Need To 'Formalize' 2003 C

On the contrary, the world views it as India finally responding aggressively to terrorism, while all this while it was mute and tame about it. As for Pakistan -as a peacemaker?..naah, more like just desserts. The world looks it as "Get rid of the snakes or the neighbors will go after it".

no sir if that was the case world would have condemned Uri attack. the world, Instead is quiet and letting India know its coming back to you. India is getting bold because they see Pakistan is not blaming India for all the terror activities in Baluchistan. Pakistan, instead is persuing a quite dimplomacey and and giving proves to all the countries who matters....so no one blames Pakistan for what is about to come to India.

Ok, So tell us the names of soldiers, who were killed in India's Operation Ginger.
or
Even forget about names, just point out any media report ,where Pakistan army accepted, It has lost 11 soldiers in a Tit for tat beheadings on the border.

Point out the media report, where ISPR has publicized the death of its soldiers, in India's cross border raids.
after Kargil.

The very same raid on which Pakistan had quietly filed a report to UNMOGIP.

“Ever since 9/11,” a senior Pakistan army officer told The Hindu, “we have sought to downplay these incidents, aware that a public backlash [could] push us into a situation we cannot afford on the LoC, given that much of our army is now committed to our western borders. Each of these incidents has been protested by us on both military and UNMOGIP channels.”

pakistan had already taken this issue of indian beheading pakistani soldiers in the past. but can you tell us the names of those 14 killed in attack on pakistani posts so called surgical strike. there bodies were there for almost 3 days.
ok leave it can you tell us the name of those 300 indian soldiers who were killed after indian beheading pakistani soldiers incident. your army even didn't told you of the incident in which pakistan took kashmiri village from you and killed almost 300 of your men gathered at the morning assembly. go and ask your ranbir singh about the truth. ask him how indian dgmo begged pakistani dgmo to give you the village back after failed attempts lasting for months.the same unit whose men were beheaded did that operation.

no sir if that was the case world would have condemned Uri attack. the world, Instead is quiet and letting India know its coming back to you. Prompt Action On Border Pushes Pak To Offer Olive Branch, Says Both Sides Need To 'Formalize' 2003 Ceasefire

Abdul_Basit.jpg

Pakistan's Ambassador to India Abdul Basit

New Delhi: After facing a barrage of gunfire from the Indian troops in a tit-for-tat response on the border, Pakistan on Monday offered an olive branch to India as it sought to take “shelter” in a 2003 ceasefire agreement between the two sides.

Pakistan's Ambassador to India Abdul Basit on Monday stressed on “restrain” between the two armies at the border.

“I think the two countries need to agree to formalize the 2003 ceasefire agreement,” Basit said in an apparent bid to cool down the temperatures at the border.

“We need to move from symbolism to substance and from conflict management to conflict resolution,” the Pakistan envoy said.

To deescalate tensions between the two sides in the aftermath of Uri and other developments, Basit said that Islamabad didn't even know what was happening when Uri happened.

“When Uri attack was underway, Pakistan was being blamed, this when we did not even know what was happening,” ANI quoted Basit as saying.

Referring to the issue of Kashmir unrest, he said, “To claim that those who attended Burhan Wani's funeral were instigated by Pakistan is wrong.”

I would accept the olive branch
India needs to focus on economic development

Nice. So Indian media has become Sine qua non of objective facts. Clips of what the ambassador said have been culled and then lot of words have been stitched together to create the final product. And the OP has used that to open this thread. Wow. Amazing.

Ambassador's always use language like 'peace' or 'restraint' as diplomacy requires such language even when going to war the next day.

*The bottom line is this. Nearly 70 years ago the Maharajah transferred Jammu Kashmir to India. That is the legal basis of Indian claim on J & K. Pakistan effectively snatched 1/3 of what (according to India) was their property. 70 years later Pakistan still holds it. Indeed Pakistan in case of gross temerity harbours ambition to grab the 2/3 left in India's hands. That is something to mull over for a bloated country 7 times larger then Pakistan.

In my opinion, the conclusion of 1 month long border tension is

1) India raised a nonsense of Surgical Strike
2) India violated ceasefire and martyred 2 Pakistani soldiers
3) India dreamed of blocking water, isolating Pakistan, Fighting against Pakistan as per their news Channels etc, all backfired

In my opinion I would say

1) Pak is filled up people who believe hypothesis and will never know the reality until it's not relent. Your school history books are example.
2) Violations have been taken up by both sides.
3) Blocking water is not exercises because we are a responsible nation.

And backfired why cause your stupid ministers have news interviews or foreign policy makers were effectively working?

Won't cut much ice. Conciliatory noise was bound to happen.
Initiating a low intensity warfare based on religious fervor is kinda easy.
What, if your antagonist decides to wage one as well. Are you guys capable of handling it economically. We have managed Kashmir, Punjab etc etc for years. We will manage Kashmir for years to come.

It's clear that the mandarins & who's who of Pak establishment haven't thought this Kashmir policy through & through like Kargil.
My understanding is that they have thought it through quite well and for a long time. As far as handling things go, do you think the Indian side will be doing things any differently than what Pakistan has had to deal with when both the KGB and KHAD were undermining things in the NWFP in the 80s and then also the Baloch insurgency that has been inflamed 4 times over now?

There is significant experience and resilience to weather the storm if outsiders try to stir the pot. And this is a two way street as all of us are aware.

Nothing on the LoC goes without a response. Both sides hide and reveal things as and when it serves their interests.

The gamble on your side is that there is a false sense developing that Modi's flexing is forcing Pakistan to change its behavior/policy vis a vis Kashmir. Your reports tend to talk about how your firing and actions stop Pakistan's actions when the reality is that Pakistan's reaction is of the same magnitude and order as that of the Indian side. This is how things go on the LoC without exception. If this sense in India prevails that your muscle flexing is getting results, sooner or later Indian government will find itself in a situation from which it would have to backtrack in order to save face.

This is not a gamble- But a tested Ploy- This is how India got a ceasefire agreement- From Kargil to the Ceasefire agreement in 4 years was an achievement in itself-

The point to be made here is that- There is exist a difference and magnitude will not be the same- talk about punching about weight and not below weight to make It look equal- So that the players there realize the actual situation- last year's policy was multiply by 3 every single round and reply back open Sialkot If Jammu is being hit- I don't know the policy today- But your ISPR DG was complaining about some 25000 rounds on a single day in Xinhua a few days ago- and today our deputy envoy was summoned- People here are okay with the current situation and will see how long Pakistan is willing to play the game- You would not see usual complain at the UN or summoning of your envoy-

The problem for Pakistan is that the last time things escalated Musharraf was in charge and was able to come to the table representing Pakistan- as of Today the future of Nawaz Shareef is uncertain and a coup is a big taboo-

I would accept the olive branch

Some people understand the language of Force and Action- We are not dealing with the civilian Govt- here- Hit them till they call Uncle-

they have nukes. it prevents you from hitting hard. your only choice is diplomacy unless you want to stoop to the level of the gutter

After learning about 'Operation Ginger', now I think that the Modi govt. shouldn't have revealed the '2016 surgical strike'....as clearly, it is not the first cross border attack by India.....

Declaring cross border strike was a gamble, situation could have easily escalated and a larger conflict would have ensued.

If Pakistan had publicly admitted to the strikes, It would have had to respond them overtly, that is if it had enough resources on its Eastern borders to deal with possibility of full scale war with India.

That would have required it to relocate all its resources from its western borders.

Since Pakistan could not afford to abandon the gains it has made in West.. It had to swallow a bitter pill and deny the strikes, all together.

Also the point, which can not be stressed enough, unlike previous cross border strikes, which were revenge attacks against Pakistan army , this time militants were the main target, where as small number of Pakistani army casualties was just collateral damage.

At the same time a message had to be sent to Pakistan's establishment, that unlike previous governments this government is not afraid to overtly escalate the conflict .

Fortunately for this government, militarily, the gamble paid off better than they expected, Pakistan was not in position to respond them, and had to deny them all together, extra precautions Indian government had taken , like evacuating border areas and blackouts in borders cities of Punjab were not needed.

Pakistan tries, and is trying a lot. Pakistani diplomats are running around quite a bit to every capital, every international organization, and everywhere it matters.

Pakistan is trying to upgrade it's diplomacy and trying to follow India's diplomatic moves and strategies.

But at the end of the day, truth cannot be hidden with lies, no matter how honey coated they are. Every country, every organization in the world knows who is the fountainhead of terrorism in South Asia, be it state sponsored terrorism or otherwise. No amount of diplomacy from pakistan will hide that fact.

both incidents were different in nature. first indian soldiers were beheaded. then indian did the same. then pakistani infantry soldiers went in. they took positions and killed indians. they didn't took any head or body but pulled pack little closer to loc for logistic purpose.
pakistan was aggressor so it never accepted it.
indians were humiliated so they never accepted it.
i knew it from soldiers.
just like pakistan never accepted beheading of indian soldiers.
indian never accepted beheading of pakistani soldiers until now.
casualities were high so it could have become worse for both countries so both countries kept it secret. but a small part came out later with face saving story.
hope you enjoy some truth here. its LOC your media is talking about where not even a bird can get in unchecked. so something happened.

its like india had thrown water over sleeping pakistani diplomats.
