The government had earlier underlined its plan to regulate the Pakistan media industry and make several reforms to bring it at par with the international standards.

Chaudhhry, in his statement on Nov 22, had vowed to regulate social media in collaboration with tech giants.

He had said the government wanted to form one authority to regularity three different mediums of social media. The minister said the government trying to make such a new regularity authority, which would be compatible with the requirements of the modern era.

It is pertinent to mention here that Fawad Chaudhry, on October 18, had said that government would establish a new media regulatory authority ‘Pakistan Media Regulatory Authority’ by abolishing the existing Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra).

While addressing the Senate’s Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting in Islamabad, Fawad had said the Ministry of Information has prepared a draft law in this regard which has been sent to all stakeholders to solicit their recommendations.

Media sciences....what a wishy washy waste of time

Focus on engineering and maybe technical training in areas like building and plumbing and gas engineering so tarined plumbers and engineers can do proper jobs. Give them the tools to be the best. So they can earn a living

How many jobs are there in media. What coblers

Media is without a doubt THE MOST screwed up institution/industry in our country and also a very important one going forward. If somehow we can actually bring in some sensible people into this, it will serve us very well. It an age of information and propaganda warfare.

I, being an engineer, may tend to agree to some of your points but mate in current world, the importance of media cannot be ignored and we Muslims are mostly lacking on this front and have not been able to mount a good response to the onslaught of media from the west. So, we need to develop media professionals of highest grade. Right now, what you see mostly in Pakistani media are nothing but presstitutes except a very few.
However, one of the most important aspect of a journalist is the character and integrity and that cannot be taught by a university rather parents, schools and society in addition to personal own innate aptitude.

not wishy washy at all bro. engineering and other sciences will always be premier but remember, it is the media through which we can portray ourselves and our ideology.

.
Total waste of money. Govt should spend money for the up gradation of current universities because their situation is quite miserable. Govt should also pay more attention towards STEM instead of wasting huge chunk of money on media sciences.

Just because you don;t understand media doesn;t mean it's not what people should be studying.

Engineering is pre historic and Idk if you are one of those oldies still stuck at engineering?

You need to update your knowledge of what people study and what's worth studying now a days mate...

I would not have objected this idea if Pakistan was accomplishing wonders in the field of Engineering and medicine. Guess what its the other way round. Every country has its own list of priorities and i think media sciences should be the last priority keeping in view the grave situation of engineering and medicine. Lol its the you who need serious modification or ultimate up gradation of upper part.

.
We need more people in Pakistan doing (I swear to god this is a real degree) Christian Studies and Global Citizenship

Science and engineering are the two fields responsible for the development of mankind and the main difference between the developed and underdeveloped countries.

No telling people to go for engineering is prehistoric becaus enot only do we already have every little cheap *** university promoting and teahcing engineering but we have every ones parents, and maid and gardner telling them to go take up engineering.
There is more to the world and more things to do out there than just engineering.
And to compete in that, we need more of those Modern Sciences being taught.

Some people think a TV does that.
