President Obama's reply to an Indian girl on Why Pakistan is not labelled a terrorist state

Great knowlege !
Sure he can do that , frist he should become a uk citizen .
then after winning a election of prime minster in UK ?

LOL ... what a quality question ... :hitwall: ... a Mexican asking president of Thailand to expel Algerian descents from Romania ... :cheesy: .... keep it going guys

.
So nukes do help the equation then? From an otherwise insignificant nation to a big power player and cornerstone of US foreign policy in the larger South Asian region, it just proves that US doesn't give a jack about India. Their relationship is according to their own needs.

What makes me wonder is how such a stupid kid was allowed to ask this question....unless of course it is an accurate reflection of the Indian mindset........i mean you're given the very rare opportunity to ask the President of the most powerful nation any question......many people will never get that chance....and you conveniently waste it away with your same old rhetoric......and you don't even get the answer you so wanted....because the guy answering is way too smart.

Damn. I feel sorry for the kid.

she speaks the mindset of majority Indians, Indians wake up and their first wish is hoping pakistan disappeared from planet, they go to sleep wishing Pakistan evaporates in the dark of the night. No where else in the world you will see this much hatred in common people.

If you pay attention to how Obama answered her question, he give a long pause first saying to himself "Oh please not that dumb question again, please get out of Pakistan obsession"

.

Pretty level headed reply by the US President.

I hope Indians are not going to ask any stupid questions any more to Obama on his visit.

MODs, i do not know if it has been posted before, but if it has, you can delete the thread.
Q: My question to u so important to America ,that so far America has not called it a terrorist state?

Answer:
Obama takes some time to ponder, tries to lighten up the mood with a confessionv...then thinks...turns very serious while wondering how to start.
And then carefully steps forward without stepping on any mines... "Pakistan is an enormous country" (GAP)..(thinks) continues " its a strategically important country". (note that word in bold) and then suddenly he eases down as if he has passed an exam and completes his sentence "not just for America but the world".
Pauses 3 seconds more (thinks) and then says "aaa.. its a country (gap) whose ppl have enormous potential"...
pauses again...this time a little longer... "but it is also a country that...within it has some of the extremists elements" (feeling of triumphalism!! he just did it!!) from this point on he relaxes more as he has managed to say just the right words without hurting Pakistani sentiments while assuring India that US MUST work with Pakistan for bringing about "peace" in the region.
You dont have to be a body language expert to understand that Mr.President really struggled with his lines initially , which is so uncommon. Obama speaks well and thinks faster, he's known for his quick and witty answers,so whatever made him stumble and fumble while answering back to a college student...hmm I wonder.

Obama pretty much spoke our point of view. A little too good answer for a little too stupid question.
You changed your name. :)
Happy new year!
You're right ,the girl did sound a little too stupid, was she expecting he'll be frank? and that he would add fuel to fire???
Oh! I forgot she's just a college student. She should have really not asked that question.

yaaaaaawn!!!!

He actually mentions that he was expecting such a question.

There was no fumbling, yes he took his time to think and reply (which btw the original person didn't bother to do when asking the question)........he was in India, in front of Indians. He could have said anything, to score brownie points.....but this shows the mature and level headed nature of their politics and president, that he didn't let himself or the inquirer get away with the normal BS and hate that an average Indian garners for Pakistan.

The question is not some random question just comes into your mind accidently; this is the very question India has been trying to raise on every platform with no success. Obama was expecting this question as he knew India might try to weigh US stand on Pakistan. The college girl might not know the gravity of the scripted line given to her but that does shows the mindset of a deluded nation. Well I say "nation" and not "some elements" for the sake of reciprocity. Unfortunately, another epic fail. India has to move on now and throw away all obsessions with Pakistan but if paranoa continues, which surely will, India will continue to loose maturity and linger on in the state of current childhoodness.

Sire dont you know such questions 're prepared in advance?? Lol

And then the world would 've called him the dumbest POTUS.

He was being smart!!
He did not want to hurt the goose which lays golden eggs..or was it hen?? Lol.

He indirectly did mention about the storm brewing up in Pakistan and that America's ONLY intention was to 've a "peaceful" Pakistan. I must say he behaved as if he was walking on a mine field.
Obama didnot behave as if Pak-US were best of friends, he very clearly mentioned it in the very beginning of his speech that Pakistan was a "strategically" important country. And we know he was absolutely right.
But I must warn you that America can be a really mean-friend at times. :)

She should also ask question why India is not declared rapist state?
That can be applied to all of south-Asia.
India has a free media and better rape laws so most of the cases do get registered.
Btw not just is this off topic..but to bring things like rape randomly to a thread is a against the forum etiquette.

A Lot of world is also suffering from terrorism and Pakistan is actively taking actions against terrorists.

On a more serious note, Pres Obama couldn't have given a more exemplary and to the point answer to a question which Indians need answered since they often seem to raise this question. The fact remains that Pakistan is strategically vital not only for the USA but also for the world. It therefore is imperative that Pakistan manages to overcome their internal security issues and work towards stability and economic gain. A pulverized and dysfunctional Pakistan is certainly not in India's interests whilst India works towards achieving its goals of becoming a recognized economic giant. If Pakistan gets a chance to compete economically with India, one would expect issues which divide these two nations to be resolved more peacefully. Simple maths.
