"The telecommunications sector is one of the most important sectors in Egypt, the most advanced and developped in terms of the rest of the sectors and the growth rate is very large", said President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi.
In response to a number of questions from the participants in the COMESA Round-table on Investment Opportunities in the 2017 Africa Forum, President Al-Sisi added that the Egyptian State is keen to encourage the telecommunications sector with all of what the word "encouragement" means.
On his part, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Yasser Al-Qadi, said that there is guidance from President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi regarding encouraging and attracting many investments in the ICT sector.
The Minister of Communications pointed out that Egypt is the largest country in the world connected to submarine cables. He pointed out that there are 14 submarine cables crossing from Egypt linking the West with the East, from South East Asia to Europe and then to America. "The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) regulates the relationship between companies that want to cross from Egypt", he added.
