They don't need a long range plane. Just enough to deter Israel planes incursion. Also, something not expensive to operate, not like MiG-29 which is F-16 size and expensive to operate. 2 squadrons of JF-17 Block 3 equipped with AESA and RD-33MK or WS-13 should do. What do you think?

. . . .
There is no such proposal under consideration so this is totally hypothetical. I don't see this happening in near future so I voted "no".

If that helps us generate revenue, then why not ...

The vast majority of SAA are Sunnis.

SAA was decimated. He didn't care about them. He gave the best jobs to the Alawites, like torturing Sunnis.

As if Pakistan would sell planes to this butcher. You guys haven't got a clue about politics. :omghaha:

.
Why would a Sunni state arm the murderer of Sunnis? :rolleyes1:

Not going to happen guys. More likely a new synagogue in swat valley than planes sold to the butcher of Syria.
we had synagogues in Karachi back in the days. not sure about sawat not sure why you mentioned that.
the sale of weapons is not driven by sectarianism but international relations. currently Asad regime is under sanctions and is purely dependent on Russians and Iranians. without any means for acquiring anything substantial let alone unknown jets they never operated before.

. . .
Assad had been under western sanctions since the 1960s for refusing to buy western military hardware no?
this is different
there is civil war happening there and a country like Pakistan cant afford to anger the Arab monarchies specially when already it has hostilities on either sides of the borders and new wave of terrorist attacks

please dont spread sectarian hatred
if you are so concerned for Sunni Muslims then please ask Israeli government to allow food and medical supplies to Gaza its full of Sunni Palestinians

I think Syria will buy from Iran or Russia. Syria is less interested in Pakistan China tech. The main question is will Syria buy from Pakistan because such weapons purchases are dependent on strategic interests. Look at Pakistani dynamics in this whole thing Pakistan had an embassy in Syria through out the civil was and never withdrew any staff from it.

Few pro and cons of selling them to Syria.

Selling them to Syria will deter Israel from selling weapons to India.
JF -17 in Syrian hand is not threat to Saudis because Saudis are not involved there on ground.
The only objection that can come is from Turkey but then Pakistan selling to Syria is better than Russia selling them for Turkey.

The answering this thread is that we cannot sell JF-17 to Syria even if we wanted to because country is sanctioned by U.N. for weapons sales.

Punch line there are many other nations willing to buy JF-17 just stay away from Syrian mess.
