An airbase officer in Poland detained for alleged spying for Russia
An officer was detained on a charge of espionage on behalf of Russia, the UNIAN agency reports. He is suspected of transferring classified information to Russian agents, according to Polish media.
"On the morning of December the 6th, the reserved senior lieutenant Peter Ts. who had been on the wanted list since August 2016, was arrested. The district military prosecution has charged him with offence provided by Article 120, par. 3 (collaboration with foreign intelligence)," the Polish media say.
According to reports, the officer was serving at the 1st transport aviation base and had access to the classified passcodes for the military base, in 2015 he was stripped of his commission and placed on the reserve list.
If found guilty, the officer can be imprisoned for up to 10 years.
