Polish heavy industry manufacturer Huta Stalowa Wola (HSW) has developed the new infantry fighting vehicles under the Borsuk programme to replace Poland’s BWP-1s, which it unveiled at the recent MSPO 2017 exhibition.

The Borsuk infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) fitted with a ZSSW-30 turret that is armed with a 30 mm gun and SPIKE anti-tank guided missiles (ATGM). The turret is located in the middle of the hull with the troop compartment extending to the rear.

The vehicle in amphibious variant will have a combat weight of 24-25 tonnes, the assault variant will have a weight of 30 tonnes. The Borsuk IFV is powered by a MTU multi-fuel diesel engine (600kW).

The chassis of the new IFV is to be a basic element of specialised variants, such as self-propelled 120 mm mortar, command, engineering vehicles, command and control, ammunition wagons and medical vehicles etc.
