I think you are mistaking GlobalEye with Swordfish MPA.

And if you are thinking about upgrading our Erieyes to GlobalEye we cant do that because we need a newer platform.

Couldn’t the Aesa TR modules just be swapped out and the software and supporting hardware be upgraded, it doesn’t seem to be much physically different between the earlier Erieye and Globaleye

Old platform. Newer equipment is more powerful and needs more power. Asked Alan Warnes on twitter.

Swordfish sail was refused by Sweden if im not mistaken. I would not be surprised if this is a vip transport. A single aircraft aale for LRMPA makes no sense. Start with 2 or 3 then maybe, but a single aircraft without any tender for design is odd.

Sweden refused nothing. Its a question of cash. Also there is no way this tender is for a VIP aircraft when PN bought a Hawker jet just 4 years ago for VIP role.

as far as we know Swordfish was actually discontinued by SAAB in favour of Globaleye .....

I don't think its for MPA, as I don't think that the PN would be willing to dole out $ for initial setup of a newer platform, unlike ATR series which other operators had already acquired and converted to MPA thus reducing the risk.
