The Punjab you’re defending was invented by the British in 1849 by merging territories into the province with complete disregard for language and identity and history.

British Punjab (like British India) was a fake colonial invention.

The thousands of years of Punjab stretches back to the Rig Veda when Punjab was called Saptha Sindhu (translates basically into Land of 7 Rivers).

What is now Central Punjab along with Indian Punjab was the real Punjab. Everything else was clumped together over time, especially during British rule.

Even the Mughal maps shows this as Subah Lahore and Subah Multan.

And you are nobody to tell the people of Multan or Southern Punjab that their identity and language don’t matter or don’t exist.

I for one support Seraiki identity full stop and it should be celebrated and recognized.

Rather than trying to give voices to Pakistan’s various languages, cultures and people, you seem more interested in usurping and disregarding them.

A poet from chakwal summed up your chawaliyaan couple centeries ago

Since you probably won't understand what he is saying I'll translate "from peshawar to Jamna from chamb to dera Ghazi speak, people speak punjabi recite my true poetry"

Punjab started with Brits lamo - Punjab means land of the five rivers
Ibn Battuta diary

When Mongols came to Punjab Ghakars for the most part stopped them in potahar and Khokhars after some time repulsed them from Multan as they were the one's who conquered Delhi for tughlaqs and did their dastaar bandi/crowning ceremony made them kings and then afterwards took care of the mongol problem for them
- you know how's that relvent - khokhars are one of the oldest clans and are present in both Multan and Central Punjab and potahar - what you are saying is all these regions with shared clans are different and deserve to be treated as something totally different
- in those historical writings they called Ghakar held regions who stopped mongol incursions "upper Sindh sagar doab" and multan lower Sindh sagar doab
So again yet another baloney

Another poetry - Mian Muhammad Bhakhsh from mirpur appreciating the old poet's- some of these poets are from what you consider as saraiki regions
Why TF is a poet from mirpur understanding and appreciating Thier poetry?

So yeah you're wrong

I am of the opinnion that Whole Pakistan should be subdivided into Divisions and All provinces should be disbanded. Pakistan should have 50+ Administrative divisions with strong decentralized local bodies. Provinces are a sword on the neck of an integrated Pakistan. If that answers your question.
I am against division on ethnic linguistic lines as well. But, coordinating stuff like food and water security which is only going to get worse with time, between all the administrative units will be a nightmare. We have no experience with such an arrangement either.

Read what I wrote slowly then give me poetry to read.

You first need to differentiate the extent of Punjabi language and Punjab as a region. The two aren’t the same. Punjabi language was pushed into regions outside of Punjab during the Sikh Empire which lasted for about 100 years. Just because a language is spoken somewhere doesn’t equate to that region being part of the labguage’s heartland.

English is spoken in Pakistan does, does that mean Pakistan is part of Britain?

Also, the term Punjab has been around for centuries - nobody is disputing that.

But what is disputed are the boundaries of historic Punjab. The modern-day Province of Punjab is not the historic Punjab.

What we know as Punjab today is not actually the historic Punjab. The modern-day borders of the Province of Punjab are based on the borders of British Punjab. This was done when the British captured Punjab in 1845 and hastily made the provincial borders with complete disregard to language, culture and history.

The actual historic Punjab consists of regions around Lahore. These regions include Sialkot, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Okara, Kasur, Faisalabad along with Amritsar, Ludhiana, Bathinda and Jallandar in East Punjab. This is where the traditional tribes and clans of Punjab come from (ie. Punjabi people) and where Punjabi culture emerged from.

This is also why even when you see Mughal maps, Subah Lahore borders mimics that of the historic Punjab borders.

I am sure its time to trust Pakistani people to take care of themselves and stop behaving like authoritarian state who knows what to do with the people. People have never been given the power to rule themselves at lowest level.
Its always been a hegemonic center imposing its larger then life (Mostly moronic) narratives and Policies on a massive country of 240 Million people.
People of Makran ,Hyderabad, Sialkot and Sakardu have very different problems , cultures, societies and they know what is good for them and how to manage themselves the best way possible. Lahore and Islamabad should stop behaving like Insecure Guardian of Qasur and Faisalabad. Specially when they are doing absolutely s*** job for decades.

Its a very long discussion.
But decentralization is the key. Centralization only suits the Hyenas that feed from this inefficient machinery.Decentralization is our only salvation.

I'm not muhjir but ancestors were
They migrated from India
Thanks. You said amritsri and I thought your ancestors must have migrated to Pakistani punjab.

In my mind.
East Punjabi muslims migrated to west punjab.
Urdu speakers migrated to urban sindh.

.
Saraiki is punjabi? Where did you read that? And what makes you think i think this?
Anyways. Your are a unfortunately clearly a Punjabophobe and i dont see anypoint discussing reconfiguration of Punjab province with people who have clear prejudice against Punjab.

Many Karachiites also listen to Moosewala. Do you think they are 'assimilated'?
