The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has chalked out a plan to provide 3 million new jobs, efficient governance through use of IT technology and to expedite the process of industrialization in the country by using 50 percent of remittances.

This was stated by PML-N Lahore president and candidate for NA 123 Pervaiz Malik while addressing a gathering on the occasion of inauguration of his election office in his constituency on Thursday.

Malik said that actions speak louder than words therefore the PML-N performance was enough to prove its loyalty to the country and its people. He said that former chief minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif left no stone unturned to ensure all facilities to the people. He said that it were not the hospitals alone where people were provided with free medical facilities but the students were given laptops, solar panels and infrastructure in the province was brought at par with developed world.

Malik said that if his party was voted to power, it would not only put the economy back on track and resurrect Pakistan as a progressive and sovereign nation. He said PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif has devised a mechanism to curtail the woes of people and sustainable progress at economic front.

"The PML-N seeks revival of economy in the next five-year through pro-investment and pro-business policies where the growth rate will be doubled to about 6 percent; fiscal deficit will be almost halved to 4 percent of the GDP; tax-to-GDP ratio would be increased to 15 percent, whereas investment to GDP ratio will be pushed up to 20 percent, respectively."

He said further one of the most crucial challenges faced by Pakistan was energy crisis, which was not only affecting economic growth, but adding to the miseries of people. "PML-N promises to take care of energy crisis by generating extra 10,000MW of electricity, half of it from coal, mobilization of $20 billion investment in power sector and progressively reducing transmission and distribution losses to 10 percent," he added.

He said clean water, health and education were the right of people and he would utilise all resources to provide these necessities of life to the residents of NA-123.

“I will expedite work on the road network, sewerage and water supply system will be expedited. People should not stumble by the deceiving hollow slogans vote PML-N to power keeping in view commendable services for the cause of country and nation,” he said.

PML-N to put economy back on track: Sartaj Aziz

ISLAMABAD: Former finance minister Sartaj Aziz has said that foremost agenda of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) manifesto is to put economy back on track and resurrect Pakistan as a progressive and sovereign nation.

The senior vice president of the PML-N was speaking at a debate on manifesto of the party here at an event organised by Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI), fifth in a series of seminars, planned to bring manifestos of political parties into discussion and assess the impact on electorates in the run up to the general elections.

Sartaj Aziz said: “The PML-N is seeking revival of economy in next five years through pro-investment and pro-business policies where the growth rate will be doubled to about 6 percent; fiscal deficit will be almost halved to 4 percent of the GDP; tax to GDP ratio would be increased to 15 percent, whereas investment to GDP ratio will be pushed up to 20 percent respectively.

“One of the most crucial challenges to Pakistan is energy crisis which is not only affecting economic growth but also adding to the miseries of the people of the country,” he said, adding that the PML-N promises to take care of energy crisis by generation of 10,000MW electricity, half of it from coal, mobilisation of $20 billion investment in power sector and progressively reducing transmission and distribution losses to 10 percent.

Sartaj Aziz deliberated that another distinct feature of the PML-N’s manifesto includes policy on food security where not only food production would be increased by 4 percent but its affordable access to people would also be ensured.

Talking on a new framework on social change, he said: “Education is the PML-N’s priority agenda and expenditure on education would be increased to 4 percent of GDP beside other initiatives such as Danish schools, district education authorities, education endowment fund and rise in literacy level from 54 percent to 80 percent in shortest possible time.” He added that the health sector spending would be increased to 2 percent of GDP and every family’s healthcare would be subsidised through Medical Insurance Card.

Some of the other policy promises in the manifesto included creation of three million jobs, use of IT technologies for efficient governance, creation of parliamentary bodies, civil-military and security issues and use of 50 percent of remittances on productive investments. Speaking as a discussant on the PML-N manifesto, senior analyst Zahid Hussain said although the PML-N claims to set realistic and achievable goals in the manifesto but there are areas high on promises.

Citing the economy issue he said: “The manifesto promises to make Pakistan the 10th biggest economy of the world in due course of time, which is unrealistic keeping in view the socio-economic and political situation of the country.” He said the PML-N’s manifesto is not clear enough on tax restructuring, abolishing SROs, implementation of RGST and the question that how the PML-N would improve tax to GDP ratio to 15 percent of GDP.

He added that ensuring 100 percent enrolment in education by 2020 is just rhetoric and showed apprehensions over lack of solid policy action on terrorism and sectarianism in the country.

Giving his view, Imtiaz Gul, Executive Director CRSS, said the PML-N manifesto can be good at economy and other things but it clearly misses out on terrorism and militancy aspects. “It seems that the PML-N lacks clear understanding of the militancy or does not want to touch controversial topics,” he resented.“There is lack of bolder and braver policy initiatives particularly on anti-terrorism, foreign policy and civil-military matters,” he added.

He also criticised the declaration of ‘strategic parity’ with neighbours in the PML-N manifesto which he said is the conventional cold-war era approach. “Instead of parity by accumulating strategic assets and military power, we must embed greater investment in human development,” he added. Talking on governance aspects, Imtiaz Gul said: “The PML-N must consider the abolishment of ‘elitist model of governance’ in which ruler despite belonging to affluent class, misuse authority, embezzle state resources and pass legislations which unduly entitle them the life-time state security, escorts and other perks and privileges which otherwise must have been spent on health and education of general public.” He, however, praised the e-governance promise in the PML-N manifesto, which, he said, would increase efficiency and reduce corruption.

where were these 3 million jobs in the last 5 years?
You had 5 years to fix Punjab but all you did was make a bus line and give out laptops.
Anyone can say anything, but the actions are there for all to judge.

:sarcastic: Joke of the century.

How? Where? When?

Even in economies like UK they are finding it hard to produce 50000 jobs without increasing taxes which will never going to happen under PML-N,s watch.

Khuda ka wasta yaar Awaam ko khoti charhana choar do.

Letting people keep their current jobs seems like a more reasonable promise and challenge for PML-N if they get elected.

Get electricity back and 1 million will get you started right away !!!! :woot:

You mean this tiny paragraph lol. Just read that manifesto and here is how 5 million jobs will be provided.

Creation of Job Opportunities:
All infrastructure projects will entail compulsory job creation. Institutions like Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund, Micro Financing Institutions and National & Provincial Rural Support Programmes will play a major role in eradicating poverty and creating jobs by expanding their operations. We will create incentive programmes for the private sector to create maximum employment. We will start a especially- designed employment program that will generate jobs at community and neighborhood level through special development initiatives.

Get electricity back and 1 million will get you started right away !!!! :woot:

They couldn't even build a single power plant all this time and you expect us to believe that they will going to get electricity back. Without NFC award they couldn't even have been able to build your precious Metro bus so we should actually be thanking PPP for that.

Do you know what WAPDA is ? It is called Water and Power Development Authority and it is a ministry which falls directly under the Federal Government. hundred of agreemens have been signed with German, Turk, and Chinese companies but PPP didn't give Soverign Gurantees for investment. We were supposed to go for Underground Metro as the deal was initially signed with a Chinese company but thanks to PPP, they didn't give soverign gurantee to a Chinese Bank. Metro Bus was an alternative option. Difference is, it was made with our own resources. The Turks gifted the Buses. Punjab was literally sanctioned. The 700+ MW of electricity it produces is stolen by Karachi even today. Oil and Gas shortages in the province itself were even more gruesome

WAPDA only controls Hydro power generation. You are definitely some genius.

I hope they deliver on their promises because PMLN looks poised to rule Pakistan and is in a brilliant position right now.

And how would they bring Electricity back? Why they didn't do it in the past 5-years - what stopped them? OR are you implying here that they got a Magic Wand from Harry Potter.
