PM to visit Vietnam, Laos on Nov 2-6

DHAKA, Oct 29, 2012 (BSS)- Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina leaves Dhaka for Hanoi next Friday (November 2) on a six-day official visit to Socialist Republic of Vietnam and Lao People's Democratic Republic.

On the first leg, she will visit Vietnam from November 2 to 4. Form there she will go to Loa People's Democratic Republic to attend the 9th Asia-Europe Meeting Summit of Heads of State and Government (ASEM9) on November 5-6.

A special flight of Bangladesh Biman carrying the Prime Minister and members of her entourage will leave Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) at 7.30am on November 2.

Foreign Ministry officials said, Sheikh Hasina will hold officials talks with Vietnamese leaders on November 2. Then she will attend the signing ceremony of a number of agreements between the two countries.

She will also make a courtesy call President of Vietnam Truong Tan Sang, General Secretary of the Communist Party Nguyen Phu Trong and Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Sinh Hung.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung will host a dinner and cultural programme in honour of Bangladesh Prime Minister.

On November 3, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will visit the mausoleum of Ho Chi Minh and monument of National Heroes and Martyrs and pay wreaths.

Later, she will attend a business seminar and pay a field trip to the industrial zone and agriculture fields. She will leave Hanoi for Vientiane, capital of Laos, on November 4.

On that day, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will hold official talks with the leaders of Lao People's Democratic Republic at Presidential Palace. On November 5, she will join the opening ceremony of 9th ASEM Summit at the National Convention Centre.

The Summit of the 48 nation forum of Asia and European countries will be held this year with the theme- "Friends for Peace, Partners for Prosperity" aimed at promoting mutual understanding, peace, stability, development and prosperity of Asia and Europe.

The summit will provide an opportunity to leaders of Asia and Europe to discuss regional and international issues of common interests and concerns, including, among others, food and energy security, sustainable development, financial and economic crisis, climate change, natural disaster response and socio-cultural cooperation.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is also scheduled to attend plenary sessions of the summit.

She will return home on November 7 by a Bangladesh Biman Flight.
