Congress leader launches scathing attack a day after Centre announces pact over disengagement

A day after the Centre announced that India and China had reached an agreement to disengage on the eastern Ladakh border, former Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Friday launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of “cowardice” and “giving away Indian territory to China”.

On Thursday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh informed Parliament that Indian and Chinese troops had agreed on disengagement on both sides of Pangong Tso in a “phased, coordinated and verified manner”.

Addressing a press conference at the Congress party headquarters on Friday, Mr. Gandhi told reporters that the Indian territory was up to Finger 4 in the Pangong area where Indian post used to located but, now, the government had moved back to Finger 3.

The Congress leader said it was China that can claim success, as Mr. Modi had “handed over a portion of Bharat Mata [Mother India] to them”.

“Why has Prime Minister Modi given up Indian territory to the Chinese? This is the question that needs to be answered by him and the Defence Minister,” Mr. Gandhi said, adding that the Prime Minister was “betraying the sacrifices of our Army”.

The Congress leader said that while India’s armed forces — the Army, the Air Force and the Navy — were ready to take on China, the Prime Minister was not.

He said the forces had “risked everything they had to capture” the Kailash ranges but the government had now asked them to move back without spelling out “for what”.

More importantly, he said, the Chinese were still in strategically important areas such as Depsang plains, Gogra, Hot Springs and questioned the Defence Minister for “not uttering a word about these areas”.

“It is about absolutely 100% cowardice to give our holy land. The Prime Minister is a coward who cannot stand up to the Chinese. That’s the fact, and he is spitting on the sacrifice of our Army,” asserted the animated Congress leader.

Accompanied by the party’s Lok Sabha leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and general secretaries K.C. Venugopal and Randeep Surjewala, Mr. Gandhi lauded the efforts of the armed forces in protecting the borders and said “none in India” should be allowed to undermine them.

“I think the people should be enraged. I am surprised the press is behaving the way it is. You [the press] have a responsibility to raise these things,” he said.

Mr. Gandhi said he had full faith in the capability of the armed forces.

“It is the responsibility of the Prime Minister to protect the territory of this country. The Prime Minister has ceded Indian territory to the Chinese. It’s his responsibility to solve it. How he does it is his problem, not mine,” Mr. Gandhi added.

To be fair what do you expect him to do? Doesn't matter who is in power in india, there is NO WAY india can EVER take on China. That is a fact. Asking india to take on China is like asking Pakistan to take on america.

China has India by the neck, it has given them some breathing space. But some Indians think they have either won or PLA is weak. India should never be given space as they start considering themselves invincible.

Imagine a re incarnated indian insect breaks into your house, opens Wikipedia on your computer, and edits the Sino-Indian war of 2021 page to say

"DECISIVE INDIAN VICTORY
93000000000 1 child soldiers captured"

Last few months we were happy that China eliminated the pride of these Bakhts, doesn't feel nice to see them get back to their old ways again. Nevertheless, I am still optimistic that China will give them more surprises in the coming future.

Rahul trying to sound more hypernationalist than BJP. What Rahul and the Congress should be doing is bravely talking about peace with India's neighbors. Get China to become actually communist and get Pakistan and India to sit on the talking breakfast table and speak of peace in Kashmir.

I still believe that this so called "disengagement" is a tactical move by China. Remember this was all done on China's terms.

He's like a little child, Rahul, a petulant little brat. The guy just does not know how to play politics. To be completely fair to the guy, his immature little mind and it's 3 functioning brain cells may mean well on some special needs toddler level of understanding the world but my god.. this guy will take the remains of the shipwreck that is the GOP of India and sink them to the bottom.

The Congress is basically finished in India, they enjoy very measly real support among the people. Their core rabid support base is now basically:

Deeply ideologically opposed to 'Hinduism' (not Hindutva, but opposed to Hinduism/Dharm) groups such as the:

1. Vatican backed evangelical 'soul harvesters'

2. Hardcore Sunni Muslims and organizations like the PFI, Jamaatis etc (Owaisi is eating into that support.. Bihar ;) )

3. Leftist intellectuals/Buddhijibis, Maoist jungle guerrillas, most of Bollywood, and clueless ideologically driven Marxist college kids, both urban rich and poor. Oh, and the liberal blue tick twitter brigade.

Modi's BJP otoh has massive support from all quarters, people, even many from the above mentioned groups have abandoned the Congress in droves. Apart from hardcore religious Sunni people.. the rest of all of India's aspiring middle class, the new (lower.. don't like that term) middle class, the upper middle and the influential rich folk.. they're hard core pro Modi/BJP. These are the opinion makers and the aspirational class.. nobody wants their kid to pick up a gun and fight a nuclear weapon state, they want to see t heir kids on TV doing well and signing autographs.

Rahul " the PAPPU" Ghandy is Modi's biggest ***et.
