PM Imran 'optimistic' govt may not need IMF bailout

Is it because it needs $20 billion, and the INF package is $12 billion?
Look, VCheng we can't hire Trump to fix the mess in Pakistan left by Nawaz and we live in the real world. The options are -

  • Trump [if you can lend us him]
  • Nawaz Sharif
  • Zardari 10%
  • Zardari Bhutto Puppy
  • Imran Khan
This is the bottom line. Which one you think is best way forward in your opinion if you had the finger on the buzzer?

The best way forward now is to give him the time to deliver what he has promised, or even a tiny fraction of it. He has asked for six months to provide relief from the harsh measures that are coming. Let us see how harsh they are and how much relief and when is provided. Reality, not claims.

You may think I am fawning but PM IK even at his worse will do better then Nawaz. And yes that is because NS standard is so low. So I expect even if this 5 years are failure we will have done better then another 5 years of Nawaz. That is success in itself. Personally I am hoping that he [in order] improves the literacy, health and the living standards of the poorest 25%. If he can do that to me that will be success.

One would hope so, but then again, that is not much of a standard to judge, and there is no evidence of it thus far. Let us see whether what you say actually happens. Patience, it will be before us all to see.

Eagerly waiting for China visit... the result of which will determine whether we are going to IMF or not.

PTI probably biding their time because their measures are leading to slight improvement in exports, rapid improvement in remittances, massive increase in tax fillers and slight decrease in imports. If this situation continues then we won't need IMF help.

Look, unlike me and you this guy once was darling of the west. He was the toast of any elite, posh parties in 1990s London. He swooned and cavorted with daughters of billionaires. He could have continued live life of untrammeled debauchery and enjoy the western dream. But this guy gave all that up and went back to Pakistan. He build two hospitals for the poor by his shear determination. That already is more then 99.9% of what Pakistani's have done for their country. Unlike Nawaz and the other political elite he moved to Pakistan whereas as rest sent their loot to the west. Then 22 years of screaming in the heat and dust of Pakistan. I could certainly not do that. He certainly is not doing this for fame or money. That is much to respect !

He indeed did a lot more for the poor than PMLN and PPP combined and they were in Government.
And many people who call him UTURN have never noticed or chose to ignore that he has been very consistent in his core beliefs since the 90's. When you see his old interviews from the 90's he says the exact same things he says today.

If you don't enjoy the staffs at their fullest, how can you let them go????

Well can't they stay silent and only talk when things get done? I will love to hear this if he come up with done deal and not speculations.

Here is the thing. I think every country or every nation will over time have individuals rise in public life who have potential to be great leaders that change the fate of nations. Think of Ataturk. Think of Churchill. Think of Jinnah. Think of Washington. Think of Napoleon. Thing of Deng Xiopeng. Think of even house of Saud. However some nations are destined to suffer. The reason is when a individual rises who might be able to bring change they never rally around him. These type of nations will always get kicked around like balls.

Think of Ataturk. When the Ottomans collapsed and western powers decided to carve up Anatolia by giving pieces to Greece etc Kemal Mustafa was just a military officer. He however rallied his people against the invading Greeks in what was a desperate attempt to prevent the Turks becoming colonized like our forefathers by Europeans. The Turks as is their mark of a great people rallied around as one around Kemal Mustafa and against all odds defeated the invading Greeks who were supported by western powers. Not only defeated the Greeks but then threw them wholesale out of Anatolia.

Had it neen Pakistani's as Greeks poured into Anatolia and Kemal Mustafa prepared his last desperate line on the Sakarya river we would have began to b*tch and moan -

  • He is drunk
  • He is a womaniser
  • He is not a good Muslim
  • How can he stop the Greeks on the Sakaraya by just making claims

The other half would be wishing him failure and trying to drag him down. In these circumstances defeat becomes a self flfilling prophesy. You want something. It will happen. My view PM IK is Pakistan's last chance in this generation and we are not going to get another leader as honest and as motivated or inspring as IK. Look on the sidelines. Who is waiting to occupy PM House?

  • Zardari/Bhutto
  • Nawaz/Shahbaz
All those detractors of IK actually are by default wanting these two alternatives to go back to the game of musical chairs that we have seen in the last 30 years. If this fails that is exactly what we are going to get. I am not even sure if the country will survive the misdeeds of these guys and the federation might break up into it's four constituent elements. As it is significant powers have via the 18th amendment been delivered to the provnces. And maybe that might be a good thing after all. States are not holy entities. They are merely compacts between the citizen and state to deliver justice, social/health/security and economic needs.

Let's say how things play out.

Jinnah wasn't a Sunni, used to drink, married an ex-Parsi lady, led quite a westernized life; yet, the Muslim folks rallied around him!!! I think the silent majority has a latent wisdom to seek for the best from the alternatives available to them....
