I'm not sure if Mirage 2000 qualifies as a light fighter.

Mirage 2000 has small dimensions 14.36 meters long and 9.13 meters wide, fairly similar to JF-17 which is 14.3 meters long 9.5 meters wide (with wingtip missiles). IMO Mirage barely qualifies as a light fighter, just as F-16 barely qualifies as a medium weight fighter.

look closelli to specs of LCA and M2k while M2k is discontineued and LCA has just got IOC2 and will get FOC by year end while 15 prottypes are already made and 4 are under construction

Only operational fighters are counted. Combat capable trainers are not counted. Most advanced of each plane family listed.

The above mentioned fighters do not belong to the same class or era so it is not correct to rate which is o was the most advance plane.

To classify these Flying Beauties one must look into two things
1) Trend setter
2) Developments of an existing Fighter Program

Now Northop F5, F-CK-1 Ching-Kuo and JF-17 fall under Trend Setters, where as JAS 39 Gripen, MiG 21 and Mirage 2000 fall under Developments of an existing Fighter Program.

First lets discuss Developments of an existing Fighter Program.
Saab JAS 39 Gripen is not a trend setter but developed from its previous Saab aircrafts.

Mig 21 again a modified fighter aircraft from the Mig 15 and Mig 17.

Dassault Mirage 2000 highly improved fighter developed from the Mirage III/V & F1

Trend Setters
Northrop F5 was ahead of its time and it continued to help design many other fighter aircraft.

F-CK-1 Ching-Kuo was designed as an light to medium aircraft which at its time was necessary for Taiwan (Republic of China). It incorporated both the F-50 and F-16 features.

JF-17 is low cost light wight fighter that includes various technical innovations like DSI.

In my opinion all these fighter aircrafts have sum things that make them unique so it would be unfair to judge them and compare them with one and other. No doubt all have certain strengths and weaknesses.
