Point is not that LCA is inferior its a good plane for what it was designed to replace

are we still developing indigenous engines for our fighter jets?
There are currently 2 projects for devlopments of engines of Fighter jets.
1-K9+=The aim of this project is to solve the issues of K9 engine i.e. weight reduction,increase in thrust e.t.c..Work is going in full swing and more tests will be carried in coming years.Plan is to test engine in a twing engine fighter plane like mig-29.
2-k10=The aim of this project is to completely design a new engine for AMCA and i am really not sure but as far as i know GTRE has not even started working on this project.

BVRAAM could not be test before quartz nose cone is delivered i.e until FOC . Hence the twit about BVRAAM testing is a false hope being given.

Mr.Think tank....Well currently the nose cone is hindrance for above 60 Km range to track though its sufficient to hit target above 50km which is Derby BVRAAM range.:coffee:

Then you don't know how BVRAAM tests are conducted and AFAIK, that article I read, Composite cone is limiting radar range to 40 -50 Km, in which no self respecting BVRAAM test can be conducted !

The first tests will be captive trials followed by tests for separation and then fire against a slow moving target.
The current configuration is enough for the first two.

Well first of all the range is 45-50 or maybe 60^ Km on Track mode while scan mode range going to be obviously more than that and also you don't know about the current surface target detection range.
The Initial tests is going to be just to fire few missile in different altitude and mode without any radar help,then they will fire against simulated target and finally for actual target like target drone.
In the mean time LCA will get a new quartz cone along with IFR by mid Nov, a great time to get everything at once rather than in blocks :D

For your ease here is the rough specs of ELTA 2032:

Air to Air Tracking range : 80Nm ~150Km
Air to Ground mapping and detection range ~150Km
Air to Sea tracking and classification :160Nm ~ 300Km

PS: Tejas MMR hybrid is again better than original radar in some specs
