KABUL: President Hamid Karzai has said Afghanistan has strengthened from ever before as per capita income increased to $600 this year from $180 a decade ago.
Addressing passing out ceremony in police academy here on Tuesday, the president said that the country was on path to progress and it would be one of the strong countries of the region after the next 10 or 15 years.
About 550 police officers graduated from the police academy.
The Afghan government supported peace and wanted peace and those supporting suicide and other attacks must know that their act was unpardonable, he warned.
"We do not afraid of attacks being carried out by the terrorists and their supporters. The defenders of this soil, especially the youths, are ready for sacrifice and it is the main reason that we do not afraid," he said.
He continued, "Those involved in anti-government activities, conduct attacks especially suicide attacks, either they conduct by own or on behalf of others, should not think that they would be pardoned rather every person they have killed is in our memory and would never be forgotten."
The president said the killers of Afghans would be questioned by Afghans in this world and would be answerable to Allah in Hereafter.
He advised the newly graduated police officers to discharge their responsibilities above political and party affiliation as they were apolitical people.
Afghanistan has strengthened as the per capita income which was $180 10 years ago has risen to $600 this year, the Afghan president said.
"Ignore today and focus on the future. The future is ours and Afghanistan will be an exemplary country on the regional level in the next few years. Try to reach top posts but only through knowledge and abilities," Karzai advised the newly graduated officers.
He disclosed that British prime minister would visit Afghanistan in the next few days and an agreement would be signed with UK on training of Afghan police.
He said the Afghan security forces are ready to ensure security for their own country after NATO-led forces hand over security charge to Afghan side by the end of 2014.
"I am convinced and the Afghan people are confident that our National Security Forces would ensure security for this country when the handover of security is completed two years later," Karzai said in his speech.
End.
