Former Supreme Court judge, Justice Markandey Katju has slammed Raj Thackeray’s party MNS for issuing threats to Pakistani artists to leave India in view of Uri attacks in Jammu and Kashmir.
Justice Katju wrote on his Facebook page, “Those who issued threats to Pakistani artists to leave India are shameless rascals who have disgraced the nation, Earlier these rascals had attacked Biharis and U.P.ites living in Mumbai, just to create a vote bank. in a move which could have balkanized the country.”
Fawad Khan
Amid tension in the wake of Uri terror attack, the MNS on Friday had asked Pakistani artistes like Fawad Khan to leave immediately, failing which their shootings will be stalled.
Actors like Mahira Khan (starring Shah Rukh Khan-starrer ‘Raees’) and “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil”star Fawad Khan are hijacking the opportunities of Indian artistes, Shalini Thackeray, wife of MNS chief Raj Thackeray, said in a press conference.
She said these two actors have been served the ultimatum to leave the country.
In Karan Johar’s “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil”, which is slated to release next month, Fawad is in a supporting role Mahira plays the lead role opposite SRK in ‘Raees‘.
In another post, Justice Katju wrote, “Sanghis have no brains, and are feudal minded bigots with no scientific ideas. They are mostly rabidly anti Muslim, and I dislike such people, just as I dislike Muslim bigots.”
Bollywood too had slammed the MNS for threats against the Pakistani artists.
Taking a jibe at MNS, director Hansal Mehta had tweeted, “MNS for next central govt. In one master stroke they have solved the India Pakistan problem. After all it is artistes who provoke attacks.”
Vikram Bhatt said India should push for declaring Pakistan as a terrorist state than involving actors into the situation because that will “trivialise” the issue.
“We should concentrate on making sure that Pakistan is declared a terrorist state. That should be our effort. This (asking Pak actors to leave) is like trivialising the issue– whether artists or cricket should be allowed nor not…
