GUWAHATI: The Assam government has asked the Army to conduct an inquiry into allegations of rape of a Karbi woman and molestation two girls from the same tribe by jawans in the hill district of Karbi Anglong on April 6.

On Friday, hundreds of protesters clashed with the police when they tried to storm an Army camp at Dokmoka in Assam's Karbi Anglong district. When police tried to stop them, they pelted stones and at least nine policemen were injured. Several other agitators too were hurt. The home secretary said there was only lathicharge and no police firing.

Assam home secretary LS Changsan said, "We've registered a case of alleged rape and another case of molestation of Karbi tribal women by Army personnel on April 6. We've taken up the matter with the Army at the highest level and they have started an internal enquiry to establish the crime. Since the state is under the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, we have to take sanctions from the Centre before prosecuting the guilty."

Defence PRO Lt Col S Newton said, "We acknowledge that FIRs have been lodged and cases have been registered. Police are conducting an inquiry and the Army is cooperating with it. The Army is also conducting an inquiry of its own and if the allegations against our personnel are true, appropriate action will be taken against the guilty as per law.

"We do not want to get the rape allegation case to be mixed up with protests. There may be several factors involved with protests but the rape allegation is a completely different case," the home secretary said.

Several social and political organizations on Thursday submitted a memorandum to Union home minister Rajnath Singh through the deputy commissioner, demanding immediate arrest of the Army personnel allegedly involved in the incident within 24 hours and also withdrawal of the Army from the area.

The organizations have called a 24-hour Karbi Anglong bandh on Saturday to protest against the incident.

An indian human rights activist once spoke of her nation's epidemic, something along these lines, "What can you expect from a nation whose army and police use it as a tool to humiliate its people and crush insurgencies."
I will tell you, kashmir, nagaland, chattisgarh,manipur...also adivasis women whose lands were snatched by gov and adivasis protested, indian army showed them how they protect the nation.

Not that army is behind there but others too because AP people resemble chinese and are fair so they are discriminated not only in every sense but given this treatment too.

Bahi may likh doon yahan its going to be too sick.
Its not just weapon, its painful beyond that. I am not lying trust me Indian army and police officers barge into kashmiris houses whether suspected of militancy or not, mostly innocents, then they tie their fathers ,brother, husbands whoever is there and they make them watch and hear. Uskay baad koi baap bahi zinda nai reh sakta, then those marred for life men become what are called 'militants'. After that even if one murders 100s of security force officers insan ko sabr nahi asakta.
The gov has records of these rape cases. Indian army is also well known for raping kashmiri women before their kids, some human rights orgs have covered it and again government is aware of it too but nothing is being done. And some lame pakistanis say abandon supporting kashmir cause.
LOL @Tshering22 look at this ,I can't stop laughing:rofl::lol:
I had shared whatever grievences of AP people i had read about and guess what its not wrong.
AP is one the leastest developed states as well. And again we know what is done to their women.

I am a proud Indian but should we go to China, asks Nido Tania's mom

Even as chorus grows in the national capital demanding justice for Nido Tania, the 20-year-old from Arunachal Pradesh who had succumbed to his injuries after he was beaten up by a group of shopkeepers last week in Lajpat Nagar market, his native village Tamen in Lower Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh mourns the loss of a son.

Taniam's bereaved mother Marina Nido broke her silence in an interaction with India Today Group and demanded justice for her son. In an emotional outburst, Marina, who is also the chairperson of Arunachal Pradesh social welfare board, hit out at Delhi Police, blaming it for her son's untimely death. Marina says it was dereliction of duty by the cops that led to the loss of her young son's life.

Marina said her son, a first year sociology honours student at a private university in Jalandhar, was jolly but reserve. He barely fought with anybody and that she had never had to beat him up for anything. She said this was the only time he reacted in anger and paid with his life.

Maintaining that students from northeast have to put up with discrimination everywhere in the country, Marina said, "Even I've experienced such discrimination when I was a student and used to go out of Arunachal Pradesh. They always ask us, 'Are u from China..are u Nepali?' Every day we have to face such situation. I'm proud to be Indian. But where should we go? Should we be sent to China?"

Marina said people in the northeast have never believed in discrimination on the contrary. "In northeast, there are so many people from Delhi. We welcome them, honour them and respect them. We never discriminate."

"We here in the northeast are very hardworking. We spend a lot to get them (our children) good education because there is no facility here. Delhi people don't pay for our kids' education. We spend a lot for their safety. We provide them expensive accommodations so that they stay safe. Where is that safety?" Marina rued.

Marina said it was wrong on the part of people to discriminate merely on the basis of people's looks. "They discriminate us because of our looks...It's not the youngsters' fault that they dress like this...or that they colour their hair. If that is a problem then why doesn't the government ban cosmetics and hair colours? Fashion is an individual choice," she said.

Blaming Delhi Police squarely for her son's death, Marina said, "The police should have taken my son to hospital. But they left him at the mercy of the mob even though he paid up Rs 10,000.

They have done it because of the police (support). I've lost my son because of Delhi Police."

'We watch Bollywood films, speak Hindi, yet they call us Chinese'

For an inconsolable mother, it's a battle that has just begun. She is determined to seek justice for her teenage son's murder and says she is prepared to make every sacrifice for the cause.

"My son always told me I was the best mother. Now I want to show him that I'm the best mother. I will sacrifice everything and continue the fight for justice for my young son," she said.

Marina Nido is preparing to visit Delhi soon to continue her battle right where her whole world came crashing down.

:omghaha:

These protesters are demoralizing the armed forces of India, they should be arrested for being unpatriotic and endangering national security of India.

These protesters are obviously anti India and patriotic govt of BJP should take action against them.
