Partition of India on religious lines was a historic mistake: Indian defence minister Rajnath Singh

I agree that the Partition was a mistake, a tragedy, but Mr. Rajnath Singh must look at the source of the Partition, of the Two Nation Theory, which means his own ideological brothers - the Hindutvadis. It was later that the Pakistan Movement picked it up. Shashi Tharoor, a leader from the Indian centrist party, Indian National Congress, said this last year :
Speaking at the session 'Shashi on Shashi' with Micheal Dwyer on Day 2 of the Jaipur Literature Festival (JLF), Mr Tharoor claimed that the Hindutva movement started by Vinayak Damodar Savarkar categorically rejected the Constitution.

He said that for Savarkar, a Hindu was one for whom India was his fatherland and holy land. Muslims and Christians were not considered in this.

"Savarkar, Madhav Sadashiv Golwalkar and Deen Dyal Upadhay rejected the constitution and in fact agreed with the Muslims that religion should determine nationhood. In the historical sense, the first advocate of the two-nation theory was actually Savarkar, who as the head of the Hindu Mahasabha called upon India to recognise Hindus and Muslims as part of two separate nations three years before the Pakistan Muslim League passed the Pakistan Resolution in Lahore in 1940," he said.

Mr Tharoor further said that according to them, the Constitution was full of imported ideas written in the wrong language - English.

"Another flaw they pointed out was that it assumes that the nation of India is a territory and it's (constitution) written for all the people on the territory. Nation is not a territory but its people and the people of India are only Hindus," he said.

As to what can be done of India, Pakistan and Bangladesh now I have this proposal :

Congratulations to him. Now he and China both agree on the imperative need of territorial rearrangement of the Indian union.

Pakistan will negotiate with all parties bilaterally and cordially.

that's not how it works. if the two nation theory is accepted, then the RSS is also right and Hindus will ask for a Hindu Rashtra. it's incoherent to say Jinnah was right but India should be secular. of course RSS also claims that it doesn't hate minorities blah blah but you know what that means in theocratic terms, looking at Pakistan etc.

That is a convenient twist of argument... it was Hindu position that they'd be secular and all rights will be protected... while Jinnah pointed it out as a mere rouse, a facade... masquerading under the pretense of secularism. The goal was, is and will be a Rashtra... like lipstick on a pig... it just shines through.
So, either you go rashtra now or were always one... your choice.
Secularism charade remains skin deep ... no matter who rules India.

become a Hindu Rashtra than? who is stopping you- no one
your country your rules
But you shouldn't be a Hindu rashtra with Kashmir, that's unfair on them - especially with no autonomy

- You becoming a theocratic doesn't necessarily means you have to treat you minorities like crap - it depends on state to state - plenty of religious focused countries throughout history and even now - where religious minorities are not getting lynched

This hypocrisy of secularism to eat up lands is ridiculous- especially when majority Indians consider partition to be the right thing and thank Jinnah ( Indian posters said it here - for which I am thankful)

This hypocrisy is the issue

You call yourself secular (meaning nations bond through culture geography language outweigh religious affiliation) but at the same time thank Jinnah?
Which means you endorse TNT - when you endorse TNT it doesn't matter how you choose to govern yourself
You have given your answer - religious affiliation outweigh other bonds

He is out of his mind. If partitioned hadn't happened we would have struggled with Democracy, Leadership, Diplomacy, Science & Technology, Education, Secularism, Movies and lastly Debt & Asset Management. I am with Pakistanis-- we are two very different people. Partition was a blessing to both sides.

Of course Jinnah was right

He always said Hindus needed a Hindu state

It was Indians who idiotically got everyone stuck in India and now are trying to create a hindutva state with hundreds of millions of minorities

Next step - Give Kashmir
Than do whatever the f you desire

If Pakistani, Bangladeshi and Indians are very distinct people and are a blessing to you (just like we say getting out of India was a blessing)

Than by that same logic you cant/shouldn't have Kashmir - they are distinct people- and by your logic keep you down
Give us that trouble

Indian hypocrisy at its best- steal land under garb of secularism
when you have hundreds of millions of minorities living under you - start endorsing TNT paving way for Hindu centric state (which is your right- only if you didn't have historically Cristian, Muslim, Sikh regions and hundreds of millions of minorities because of it)

It is such a big hypocrisy from this Sangh of all shades, the RSS fascist ideology, here they are saying partition was a mistake and on the very same forums of Twitter and other social media they, the Sanghis will call Indian Muslims as Katua, Muzzies, Madrassa Chaap, puncture walas, sabzi and pakora walas and all sort of 'walas.

And the Sanghis, RSS included will curse Muslims and call bad names, the vitriol is all there to be seen.

So this this not just about lynchings and killings of a few Muslims, it ran much deeper than that...the hatred.
