Parliamentary panel ambivalent over use of EVMs for polling

It took 60 years for Indian Democracy to make it common. About Indian Rigging past you can read that from here.
Well we can't wait that long as EVM are already available and widely used in almost all democracies.

Firstly, ECP require to hire a bureaucrat as its chief, not some ex-judge, and a decision maker. And actually ECP requires some reforms, new rules, new technology etc.

Actually if I say ECP require a man like TN Seshan, this man totally change the face of Indian elections .

EVM was introduced in India in phased manner. It took us around 20 years to fully implement it.
Our country is not that large as India. In Pakistan, if implemented, it won't take many years.

Your country is blessed with honest, impartial people. Sadly, its entirely not the case with Pakistan :(

That's the whole point! Everything in Pakistan happens here very slow except the elections to ENSURE rigging and disparities. Blame Bhutto for conspiring this system in the first place. No place in the world entire country's elections happen in a single day!
Is this really true?? Can anyone else confirm it from Pakistan? Even in my native state elections happen in part part to ensure well protection to voters as well as EVMs. Even when we had ballot papers we used to multiple parts elections. That was really fascinating.

.
Here state machinery during state elections and national machinery falls into hands of election commission to make sure votes are not rigged.

Yes above is all true. Now you understand why all people here hate Imran Khan because he is demanding Indian-like free and fair elections.

No such thing happens in Pakistan. During recent elections, state-machinery was still under PMLN government of Punjab. So basically votes were rigged from Lahore.

.
EVMs are just a small part of the setup. The whole mechanism must be as transparent as possible so that candidates are assured that the results are the actual will of the people.

.
Too many people worry about tampering of EVM's. Anything can be tampered with, however what is more important is the chain of custody. The EVM's are open to checking by all political parties and agents of all political parties can keep a watch on the elctoral process. Once sealed & taken to a secure location, agents can keep a watch on the buiulding concerned from outside & make sure there is abolutely no one entering & tampering. That can also be done by adding cctv's to keep a watch in real time. Again the EVM's are unsealed in the presence of all the agents & then counting is done . As best a system for countries like India, Pakistan & the like....

At the least it will take at least 8 years to fully implement it. It is not like we can put machines in place and it will be successful. A country needs to train sufficient manpower, needs backup avm machines and round the clock security once EVM is sealed till results are declared. It takes some time to build the system.

@Norwegian you could be interested in this video. Watch it from 12:10.

Directly from the horses mouth, former Election Commissioner of India Mr. M. S. Gill.

There is nothing fullproof, if the presiding officer is gone biased. Or the storage area where the EVM stored is compromised.

But I can tell you it is much more safer, economical and faster than ballot paper.

Off course.

It is not the machines, it is the people and politicians who will use them, abuse them, and shout at them.

.
Pakistan electoral system is very flawed done in extreme hurry and thus you gets complains of malpractices and rigging.

Come on.

It is very similar to countries in the region.

The only issue is that our politicians are flawed, not the electoral system.

Especially the loser ones. They refuse to accept the results and then bring down the whole system.

Have you ever taken part in Basant. I have.

you know many people use a simple rule while chasing a free floating kite?

If you can't win it, then push your fist through. So no one wins.

Our politicians like IK are the same.

they are "fisters".
