Today on April 20, 2017 the much anticipated verdict of Panama case was announced. The decision was a 2 – 3 split with 2 judges, including Justice Asif Saeed Khosa declaring the prime minister “not sadiq and ameen” and asking for his disqualification while three judges declaring that the evidence was not enough and thus the final decision was to form a JIT to further look into this matter and resolve the issue. The Nawaz family will now need to present proper money trail and evidence about how the money was sent to Qatar and also justify their other properties all over the world. In a further damaging blow to the ruling elite, the Hudabiya Paper Mill case have also been reopened. I think it is appropriate to open this new thread to discuss the matters related to JIT’s investigations and course of action as well as keeping updated with latest developments regarding the case from this point onwards.

A funny thing that happened today and that I will like to point out while starting this thread is the reaction of all of us people here as well as the PMLN leader ship. I for one was quite disappointed when I heard the decision first, heartbroken to be honest! However, luckily I didn’t took me more than 30 minutes or so to analyze all this with a leveled head and read between the lines. A few weeks back, we conducted a poll on this forum regarding a possible verdict and many of our members were of the view that there will be no direct disqualification and that there will mostly likely be further investigation ordered, a commission will be formed and something on these lines. Inst it EXACTLY what have happened? So why the disappointment? I mean, I understand that our history tells that not much good have ever come from these JITs in the past but still it is not case over as yet and remember that the head of the panel along with one other senior judge have written very harsh remarks about PM. Here is the note for you to study and realize how tough the stance is:
Do not think for a moment that this do not matters any more as majority decision is in favor of PM. It is all still pretty much open and further investigation will follow. It is important to note that two out of five judges declared NS as not being Sadiq and Ameen and to be removed from office while three have asked for further investigation saying that NS and Co. have not provided enough evidence either and matters should be further looked into. NONE OF THEM DECLARED HIM INNOCENT. Funny how Khawaja Saad was saying SC have declared him Sadiq and Ameen, NO SIR, THEY HAVE NOT!!
So why exactly this disappointment and strong reaction? Again, as per the poll we conduct this is what most of us were hoping for! I realized what it was all about only once I managed to take a step back and look at the whole picture. The PMLN leadership, in what seems like a very common thing for them now, started celebrating prematurely just to send a wrong message and to deceive the people. NS is far from being out of the woods yet. JIT is being instructed to file their findings in 60 days based on which a decision will be made. Hudabiya Mills case is open. Justice Asif Seed (who was leading the panel) have clearly mentioned that he things PM do not deserves to be in the office, there is a strong political force (PTI) that will keep pushing and will keep the pressure on. IN short, it is not over. The PMLN just wants to send out a message that the case is over and that there Nawaz Sharif is a Sadiq and Ameen, he is not as stated by two judges and three other have just said that there is not enough evidence to prove this so further investigations are required. Now the JIT will have clear TORs to work with, PMLN have failed to provide any evidence or proof of the money being legal or how it was sent abroad and they wont be able to creat it all out of thin air (it will hold no water and remember that there is a political party that will remain involved and keep trying that things are transparent, it is not like those old times of PPP, PMLN muk muka!! ) Most people thought that NS have been given clean chit only because the PMLN top brass acted like this. However i am quite confident that it wont be long before most of us will realize what have happened.
I will request members to share their views in a civilized manner, state your opinion and respect what others have to say. No foul language should be used. We will try and keep this thread updated with the JIT findings and discussion and hopefully in 60-70 days’ time we will have a more meaningful decision. I will also share my more detailed views about the decision and what the future may hold (both optimistic and pessimist accounts) and hope other members will contribute positive as well.
This one case is far too important for our country and this nation's future. Do not give it up just yet! This is what THEY want you to do by creating this illusion of victory for the corrupt. Do not fall for there lies again, no single judge have declared him "Sadiq and Ameen" as claimed by PMLN, NO, infact, 2 have declared him not to be Sadiq and Ameen and not fit for office while 3 have asked for further investigation.
