What's new

Pakistan's silent partition

I don't know. There are very few Shias in Kashmir. Met very few times, not one were friends. I just know that they are 'different' and do things 'differently'.
Thats exactly what my friend told me.

Shias are also divided into another 12 sects. For example Jinnah was Twelver, and Assad is Alawaite.
News to me!!!

I was searching for Salah Din Ayubi and out of search results the best one (which I liked) is already in use by someone (he holds an administrator position here). So I chose this one for me. :)
Very good movie that. Except for the romance - war flicks get bogged down with drama.

News to me!!!
Yeah, mainlander Indians don't know a lot of stuff that we do. :D Today they would not be exactly the best of friends anyway. :P

Thanks!
I have seen a muharam procession when I was in lucknow. And I could not watch it for long...that was the first time I came to know about shias.
This incident of my friend taking a shia to sunni mosque, happened when we were in college and it was not a village. :)
By rural areas, I meant rural areas of Pakistan. I don't know what situation is in India.
we are ahl-hadees
everyone calls us wahabi the irony is
my father is like the biggest supporter of iran that i know
he has a 6 inch long beared and he is as cool as it gets
I have lots of Wahabi friends too. Most of them are very cool. But sometimes, they go to deep inside religion, which is not good. Ahl-Hadees are called Wahabi because of Muhammad Ibn Abd al-Wahab in the same way Bralvis name was originated because of Ahmed Raza Khan Barelvi. As of my knowledge, this sect is called by three words.
  1. Wahabi
  2. Ehl-Hadees
  3. Salafi
Still some people say that they are different.
By “Wahhabism” it means that Shaykh Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Wahhab must be followed in socio-political and religious issues because he has taught his followers the way to reform religion and society.

Naah, Shias are far less conservative. Alaiwites are rare in India. They are practically Western in outlook. Very liberal.

Reminds me of Assad's wife. :)
So 're Lebanese ppl also Alaiwites?? They 're very liberal usually.

. . .
Does Iran look Western in outlook to you?

Actually Iranians have a way more liberal outlook socially than many other Middle East countries, UAE, Kuwait etc may have glitzy skylines but Iranians are way more secular socially.. What western media portray is misleading.. Dont know about rural Iran but places like Tehran and Shiraz are cosmopolitan and vibrant cities

It would have been more interesting if my post wasn't deleted which was written by a Pakistani author Qasim Rashid

By the way just for your info the very first line of the very first deemed fabrication of that article is logically wrong,

If you ask any Ahmedi about how they explain themselves they will straight away prefer to be called a "Jammat" instead of a sect (which in Urdu is translated as Firqa).

Part of it does, actually. Iranians here are very liberal. :P

Lebanese ppl also Alaiwites
Lebanon - Not really. Not mainly Alawaite.
It was a Christian majority till the 1960s (around 60% majority). Now Christians are around 40%. :D

. .
I understand Hindus and Christians leaving Pakistan but aren't Ahmadi's muslims too?
Are they shias?

Whats this shia-sunni fight all about?

Its a taboo subject in the country where I live and also I avoid asking questions related to somebody's religion (outside the forum).

Land of pure madam .Land of pure.
Only majority will determine who is the land of pure.

.
Not in Iran, outside Iran it is a different story. Afghan refugees (Farsi Speaking only) in Pakistan are the most liberal type Muslims I have ever seen in person.
Our Muslims here are also quite liberal (many honestly more than me). :P Of course, liberal does not always mean good and conservative does not necessarily mean bad. :D
