I am not an expert but I believe Pakistan has found a very simple approach to deal with Coronavirus. If you are unaware of herd immunity please watch video at the bottom. To distill the argument, Pakistan's 50-70% population must be immune to Coronavirus to effectively curb the spread of Coronvirus. The problem is lockdowns don't achieve that because immunity requires a person to be infected by the virus first and then recover. And if to produce immunity in population lockdowns are lifted, the burden on health care systems can be overwhelming with disastrous consequences.
I believe Pakistan has decided to infect the population in waves with intermittent lockdowns to produce immunity in population and also to control the amount of load on our health care system.
