Pakistan's fears over growing Saudi-India ties allayed

@rameex,
no crisis can deter our economic might.
It was demonstrated in the Recession period.

Plz be realistic. Ifs and buts wont do.

The way I look at it is that they need us more than we need their $$$, we provide military assistance and will back them in a case of any attack on them.

Also what do you mean outside the arab world, US is our best donor. And the key word is promised in the barrels for sanctions, I read the news too and seems like if we were given these barrells then Nawaz sold it for a profit to other countries.

Sir, be realistic, they have helped us through difficult time and we did helped them through by flying their jets against Yemeni rebellion.

My bad sir, I meant to say within the Arab world, not outside.

And sir, if they need us more then we need their money, why are we asking them for aid?

Pakistan hopes for Saudi aid amid financial crisis - USATODAY.com

Nawaz is an idiot for doing that, but whether or not he misused it KSA was passionate about helping us, and you and I can't deny it.

As much as I hate it the reality is that the Arab countries are getting cosy with the Indians. And are having more friendlier relations with them, not at the cost of Pakistan but it is still not good for us as they might chose to be neutral and or would not be as assertive in their dealings with India when it comes to Pakistan. And the 2 main reasons that I see are the following.
1- The first and the foremost and the most important reason is the Economic renascence in India. What ever may be the reason, they have a flourishing economy. And that is in return hurting us directly and or indirectly. We in Pakistan cant compete with the size of the Indian industry but still are in the position of giving them the run for their money on part of it. But how will we do that I have met with so many in Pakistan here and in Kuwait who are shutting down their industries or are cutting on the staff because the main artery of any industry to function the electricity is not even there properly. How will we produce if out companies will be close for more then 9-10 hours a day because of the lack of power.
2- The second reason is the lack of will from the higher ups to the lowest level of our societies. I work with so many Indians on daily bases and the one thing they always do is that they make sure that their country is represented in the best possible way. Just last week I met the Chairman of a company with his Indian advisers, and they are bringing in more then 150 KM of pipes for oil sector. Guess where the Pipes are coming from Bombay India. Not only our Gov but the people on the ground the Expatriates living in these countries will have to make sure that they try to promote Pakistan as much as possible, the one good thing that we can learn from our neighbours. And I am not ashamed to admit this.

Khalid everyone has to start the journey some day.
One solution to all problems in pak is as u suggested : economic growth and pak representation.

our relations with china are more stable as we both fear huge economic losses in case of hostility.

I think Pakistan needs to step out of the mode of being important in the Muslim world to being Important in the world to realize its potential..

I agree with you but the Mullahs are the problem.

Hi
Well economy isn't the only reason for states integration & interaction. Ideology, religion, strategic interests etc all have great significance, i know how much Indian members love using the economy card but its actually the Pakistani diplomacy which is lagging its not because of economy, the years of never ending political turmoils in Pakistan have affected all the institutions which have very much hampered Pakistan's Diplomatic processes as well. However Saudi's are very much aware of Pakistan's position, Pakistan has enjoyed years of friendly & close relations with KSA, there is no way that Pakistan would doubt the Saudi's loyalty, however stepping up Pakistani diplomatic efforts is the need of the hour, just to be on the safe side

I think Pakistan needs to step out of the mode of being important in the Muslim world to being Important in the world to realize its potential..

Pakistan does understands its importence in the modern world and so does the world acknowledges it, mode or no mode i believe if we play our cards right, we can very well attain a global position at the world stage.

Qureshi clarified that there are only “four Indian consulates” in Afghanistan when asked about the opening of 14 Indian consulates in that country amid reports that they are being used for alleged espionage.

He clarified that Pakistan also has four diplomatic missions in Afghanistan
.

At last somebody admitted it. Both India & Pakistan has 4 consulates. :agree:
Hope Pakistani members will stop bragging about countless Indian consulates in Afghanistan.

There was absolutely nothing to allay the Pakistani fears, other than an unwarranted hype in the media which led to emotive reactions all across Pakistan, much like a story of smoke without fire!

Fact of the matter is India remains deeply interested in a FTA with the GCC which will give a huge boost to the bilateral trade between the two and certainly a big boost to Indian exports for which the UPA-II have very steep targets for their present 5year rule, which further helps gives boost to the SEZs and is expected to be completed soon.
Secondly India is to come up with Islamic banking a pre-condition of the arabs before they start investing in India at a much larger scale, and eventually with a nation building process underway and with India looking for an investment of over 1trillion usd in the infrastructure sector alone during the 12th 5year plan (2012-17), so it remains an on going process to attract investors from across the globe with Saudis being one of them (they are as important as any other who would like to invest in india, nothing beyond).

now this is a two way lane and in here just the way we are interested in their money the same way they remain interested in the roi their investments will generate to having strong relations in times to comes with an economic power which will be a force to reckon with if all were to go right for India, and after the 9/11, Saudis started looking beyond their traditional investment territories in the west and that is when they started pursuing stronger relations with India.

Other than economics there is not much that drives this relationship at least for now, India certainly has no emotional attachment with the Saudis as is the case with pakistan, and the little extra that happened was all thanks to the excellence we have gained in certain fields which helped bring that little extra, things like cooperation on science and technology, to IT, etc and beyond that the oil deal which happened had all the fine imprints of the Americans.

Now was there a need to be alarmist about all this, I seriously doubt.

What is more interesting, fascinating and also shocking is to hear the recently taken Pakistani official line as it shifts from one based on myths which was all about emotionally feeding the domestic constituency which helped keep the focus of the populace away from the real problems being confronted by Pakistan to one based on facts, the sudden admission of India not violating the Indus water treaty and the real fault lies with the weather gods and on their part on letting the water go unused to India just having 4 consulates in a’stan much like Pakistan has are a point in case. This sudden change in tone has been noticed post the just concluded Pakistan-US strategic dialog, wonder what transpired in that meet and what was the discourse given by the Americans, but one thing is sure the directives are coming from the general, whatever the case may be, it’s a welcome change for the good.
