Indian Vice Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Sarath Chand has recently acknowledged that Pakistan’s Defense Production base is bigger and working more efficiently than India. He pointed out that Pakistan exports more defence products than its much larger rival in the east. He blamed “lack of accountability” as the reason for a weak military industrial base in his country.

Pakistan and India, regional rivals locked in an existential battle since the troubling division of British Empire in South Asia, have been in an arms race for the past many decades. This arms race ranges from the import of latest weaponry, nuclear capabilities and increasing indigenous production. As an economic extension of this battle both Pakistan and India have also started exporting military products that include tanks, aircraft, and warships in addition to a range of smaller weapons.

. .
Actually the real driving force behind Pakistan defense productions is the organization of Pak Army.
Whereas Indian army is grossly incompetent, they require 4x the budget of Pak army and still look to get their job done by brain washed homeless kids of Afghanistan.

. . .
Because Pakistan is less talk and more work, opposite to India.

I agree with you
As sitting on Indian media, they lie If this also works 1% So today this result would not be embarrassing them

But, I beg to differ; India's R&D is far far ahead of the curve.

Beurocratic circles within Indian establishment. If Indian organizations will start to produce defense equipment, from where these guys will earn their kickbacks?
This is so wrong.
POF may have less red tape but their turnover and production capacity is far less than OFB. Infact in 2015--16 OFB turnover was $2.2 billion compared to POFs $0.75 million.
POF has never even built a single artillery gun, (overhaul does not count) whereas OFB has produced hundreds.
OFB has 41 major factories (vastly more than POF).

HIT is currently rolling out only 20 tanks a year whereas Indian HVF is rolling out 100+ T-90s in a year.

Also India is at least 5 times ahead of Pakistan in shipbuilding. India has built many many more naval ships than Pakistan; Pakistan has only one major shipyard India has 4-5 in addition to private ones.

HAL in addition to Su-30 MKI, Tejas, MIG-21, Jaguar etc has produced several types of helicopters and light transport aircraft like Do-228 & HS-748; PAC only has JF-17 & Mushshak.

Also in missile sector India produces SAMs like Akash and has started Barak-8 production; Pakistan do not have such capability

India also produces torpedoes and naval guns. Pakistan does not.

In electronics, BEL turnover is 10 times more than NRTC and IO combined.
India produces many types of Radars, Pakistan has very little radar manufacturing capability.
