Former Pakistan pacer Aaqib Javed on Monday rejected Bangladesh Cricket Board's (BCB) proposal to take up the position of the national team's bowling coach.

Javed has informed the BCB of his decision via email, reports bdnews24.com.

BCB's cricket operations committee chairman Akram Khan has confirmed it and said they will now take steps as per their backup plan.

"Aaqib has informed us that he is not going to come. We are not too worried about it. He was not our only option. We also have plans B, C, etc. We will now hold talks with the others," Akram said.

Akram, however, did not name any favourite among the other choices.

"The truth is that the job becomes difficult for both sides if we name (a favourite). You will know as soon as we finalise something."

Former Zimbabwe all-rounder Heath Streak, who had held the post since May 2014, communicated that he was not extending his contract with the BCB via email towards the end of last month.

Akram had earlier said they had set their sights on four bowlers - Sri Lanka's Champaka Ramanayake and Chaminda Vaas, Javed and India's Venkatesh Prasad.

On Sunday, BCB President Nazmul Hassan said they sent a proposal to the 43-year-old Pakistani, who ended a successful term at the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in April.

.
well done aqib bhai training pakistani at Rashid Latif Cricket academy is more that at bangladesh

.
Read through the article but could not find what reason Mr Aqib described for not accepting the position?
And also why did the last coach not want to extend his contract?

I think he wants to become more than a bowling coach. He was one of the touted candidates to become the Pakistan coach after Waqar Younas left, although he was not chosen. Still I think after coaching UAE rather well, he wants an upgrade.

. .
Aqib is now coach of Lahore Qalandar, making a beautiful new team now.

.
That is one Patriotic Pakistani. Rising above himself for the country. We salute you.

How this statement would read in simple untwisted straight forward manner .............. "We are worried because our best option plan "A" has refused."

. .
Well bad for bangladesh..he would have been a great asset for them to train their young guns..But i think he is busy with Lahore Qalandars... Chaminda vaas is another good option for you people..

.
Aaqib left the job as UAE coach & joined Lahore Qalanders... he is currently busy with Lahore Qalanders....as they have also signed up agreements with Aussies T20 teams for exchange programs....

Awesome response from him, that is how all Pakistanis should respond to countries hostile towards Pakistan.

.
Why on earth a former national Head coach should work as Bowling coach of minnows.. its disrespectful even to ask for this bullshit

.
Aaqib left the job as UAE coach & joined Lahore Qalanders... he is currently busy with Lahore Qalanders....as they have also signed up agreements with Aussies T20 teams for exchange programs....

He is also interested in harvesting new talent found in Lahore Qalanders trails, which is good for Pakistan.
