Pakistan’s energy crisis looks set to drag on for months after another failed attempt by the nation to import gas.

In an unusual development, state-owned Pakistan LNG didn’t receive a single offer in a $1 billion liquefied natural gas purchase tender, according to traders with knowledge of the matter. That illustrates both the extent of the global fuel shortage, and also the reluctance of suppliers to sell to a country in the depths of an economic crisis.

Pakistan seems to be very dependent on LNG. Much more than other countries in region. Perplexing.

Bawla don't care. He's set his kids for life by selling Pakistan.

I have been saying it for years the generals are just as or if not more corrupt then zardaris and sharifs. Why else would they overlook their corruption?? How is this sack of shit able to sit in France, a country Pakistan supposedly has strained ties and enjoy a happy meal with his family while Pakistan is in turmoil.

Stupid PTI didnt do any long term contracts.

Same for IK. His kids are in London.

IK kids are half British. Meanwhile Nawaz Sharif and Shabaaz Sharif kids are pakistani and are enjoying all the luxuries life has to offer overseas with looted money from Pakistan.

Your own leader Nawaz Sharif is an absconder in London

Tbf, the Iranians are extremely unreliable when it comes to delivering natural gas. They will cut your supply without giving you an advance warning. They do this all the time with Turkey.

Pakistan didn't invest in solar energy sufficiently. That's the country's most fatal mistake imo.

This is what happens when you signed deals with loose clauses
The supplier makes profits when LNG is cheap and defaults when its expensive

Also seems it was magnificent idea to build LNG plants instead of coal plants (original plan)

Why did we ended up with LNG Plants

Financing...govt didnt wanted to spend a penny from it PSDP

Pakistan missed a trick when it failed to go for hydro and coal fired thermal stations in a big way in the 1990s and early 2000s. It instead chose to go for oil fired stations and gas as primary fuels. While Pak doesnt have much indigenous gas or coal and is thus dependent upon the international market, at least coal is cheaper than gas.

While solar is getting cheaper by the year, it still has limitations that it is not available round the clock.
