We had a similar event in our University not this big it was just for debates and two of my class mates also chose Israel just for the challenge...no one was really freaked out by it surprised yes but then again we don't have this Jamiat nonsense

The white-turquoise-orange outfit looks very much like an illustration in one of my books of an early 1900s "Palestinian" wedding dress, with semi-precious stones employed in place of gold finery. (Do recall that ~20% of Israel's population is Arab.)
