Federal Minister for Commerce Khurram Dastgir Khan announed on Friday announced that Pakistani trucks will not require visas to carry cargo to Central Asian States starting from July this year, Radio Pakistan reported.

Speaking to the media in Karachi, the minister also stated that Pakistan will be ready to begin trade with Iran as soon as the ban on transfer of money to and from Iran is lifted.

“Pakistan has planned to open two new trade routes from Gabid Ridaan and Mand-Pishin areas,” he added.

What about Pakistani people?

Our passport is still in the bottom list....everything for business...btw, which states are covered?

This certainly is a great news, however we should literary watch out those trucks coming from Afghanistan. I believe this is a trial version of a CPEC speedy traffic. Hold on guys Pakistan is about to take off Inshallah.

He did not announce one more time that India will not be given access to this transit...

A great news with far reaching consequences.

This potentially is game changer. I know we tend to hype things but this really is opening of the the future. I hope to see Pak trucks in Alma Ata, Tashkent, Dushanbe etc

Ps. I have often been accused about being soft on Afghanistan. The reason is I always had my eye on what the British called the "Great Game". Central Asia has long been in the shadow of Russia and it's time it comes back into our shadow. It is our Pakistan's backyard. This is where many of the Islamic waves that brought ISlam came from included Babur.

I reckon simply not mentioning India in his press conference means he has delivered his silent message to the India's Government.

I pity the stupidity..these Islamic waves only bought the kind of ISIS for loot, plunder and murder...we do not want a repeat of that...Central Asia will always be Russian backyard, only Russia could impose some discipline and order in this haphazard nomadic society...we have to be on good relations with Central Asia, Russia, China especially Russia as under sanctions they need alternate economic opportunities..

TAPI is the sign but bigger catch is Russia whose economy & market is much bigger & also Europe & India has moved quickly on this front with trial run on the NSTC already carried out in 2014

Astudyy conducted by the Federation of Freight Forwarders’ Associations in India found the route is, "30% cheaper and 40% shorter than the current traditional route

The results showed transport costs were reduced by "$2,500 per 15 tons of cargo"
