Pakistani Restaurants vs Indian Restaurants in the West

Canada has lot of good restaurants pakistani run....in fact im friends with some of them.

Best biryani joint i been to in Canada was run by Pakistanis too. But maybe in north america there is more of a sweet spot to have a USP for a culture etc.

That is surprising about UK ...I've always thought there is fair enough presence of pak run joints....but I only been to London and cpl other spots.
I was taking a dig. If I was to take a guess in my part of the UK [where the largest single ethnic group is people of Pakistani origin] probably 70% of South asian restaurents are ran by Pakistani's, with about 20% Bangla and 10% Indian. However about 80% are branded as Indian, rest Halal, Asian etc and maybe 5% as Pakistani. Having travelled across UK the picture is broadly similar.

Lemme start by saying that I find it laughable that people on this thread can actually put a “better than” comment when talking about food, when taste is such a subjective thing...

Personally I feel restaurant food is never the true test of how good a country’s food can be, especially in the west. There really isn’t any innovation in Indian or Pakistani cuisine when it comes to restaurants. Both have the same Tikka masala, daal, chhole, the basic shit..
Indian Accent, a brand new molecular gastronomy restaurant in NYC is the only resto ive seen that has made an effort at changing that narrative for me. Truly worth trying if you get a chance to eat there. The reservation is hard to get though.

Home cooked food is where I feel one can really taste the difference and variety. I recently went to a bbq at a Pakistani friends house and the tangdi Kabab my friends father cooked would make kobe beef taste like garbage. Never have I tasted this in a restaurant.
If we can ever let go of this hatred and mistrust of each other, I would love to travel to Pakistan and eat the home cooked food at a Pakistani friends house.

Just few examples. We all know where Lahore is, right?

You got it. Home cooked food really carries the flavours unique to the region where it is from. Not the manufactured, industrial product you will find ion restaurents.
