Pakistan will not contact India for talks: PM's adviser

However, he stated that former president Pervez Musharraf had sought a change in the Kashmir policy, which he clarified that the government does not recognise.

“Musharraf went to Kashmir without consulting his corps commanders. We will choose a policy that complies with the Pakistani public’s wishes. Whatever Musharraf wanted for Kashmir, it’s in the past,” Fatemi said.

This is the problem. Pakistan disowns Musharraf's negotiations with Vajpayee & MMS and expects that India will agree to give more than what Musharraf had agreed for. Other than making it absolutely pointless to discuss anything with Pakistan (the next government can always repudiate any agreement), there is an complete lack of logical reasoning to hope that India will give more simply because Pakistan wants more. There is no credibility left for Pakistan's negotiators, on Siachen, on the Kashmir issue because no one in India wants to risk doing business with a government (on Kashmir) that may be unable to hold up its side of the bargain. Not many in the international community either who look at such back pedalling with any sympathy.

Pakistan shouldn't sent Modi sweats but cow meat.
That softness of Nawaz Sharif is pathetic.

Maybe this fat a** Modi could use a diet plan.
Why do all of the Pakistani members here call sweets as "sweat". and as far as cow meat is concerned i like beef and pork both. You can send it to me.

what musharaf had agreed for?

what musharaf had agreed for?

No major change in borders but to be made soft (after controlling violence) allowing for freer travel between both halves. Gradual demilitarization on both sides and more consultation between India & Pakistan on issues involving Kashmir. More autonomy for the people of Kashmir. I also think there was a provision for joint monitoring of the water flows.

This wasn't possible because of the mis-trust between both the countries even if the deals were signed.

The possible solution is giving up Kashmir valley to Pakistan followed by making it a international border

The max pakistan can expect is LoC as IB. nothing more than that.

And it has to be a BJP govt in the center which will agree to this. Congress will not have the balls.

As of now we are very happy with the status quo.

I never said that the solution offered was necessarily workable. Just that it is what was discussed & agreed to. The nuts & bolts issues would still have needed working on. (I'm personally sceptical that the Musharraf-MMS plan would have worked)

India will never give up territory in the manner you think. Giving up the valley would mean a second partition on religious grounds & that is simply not acceptable to either the people of India nor to the politicians. India will never accept partition on religious grounds & it's why so many well meaning people in Pakistan who keep harping on the Chenab formula etc get it so completely wrong. The nature of the Indian state as existing would suffer a grievous blow if a religion based partition was sanctioned & that is why it will never be an option.

KARACHI: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Tariq Fatemi, on Wednesday said Pakistan would not initiate contact with India for talks, adding that if India wants to enter a dialogue with Pakistan, they would have to take the initiative themselves,BBC Urdu reported.
“It was because of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif that the talks were heading in the right direction. It was India who decided to put a halt to them. Now it is up to them; if they want negotiations, they will have to take the initiative themselves. We have no contact with India,” Fatemi said in an exclusive interview with BBC Urdu.

Further, Fatemi said cross-border tension between the two neighbours arose because of state elections in India.

“It now appears that the Bharatiya Janata Party’s is using the anti-Pakistan agenda to support its candidacy. This is very unfortunate,” he said.

Addressing the Kashmir issue, Fatemi said, “Kashmir is the cornerstone of Pakistan’s foreign policy. It always has been and always will be.”

Good decision, the notion in pakistan need to be changed that having good relations with india is good for Pakistan

Zardari govt even though weak but had completely ignored india but nawaz sharif sent gifts to someone of modi standard
I think this is right steps, after thinking positive in favor of talks I have concluded that we should try to learn to live with reality. The reality is that Pakistan needs something we cannot give and unless we agree to give they cannot change their ways. So the only solution is to better stop talking to each other and stop wasting any time and money on fixing the relationship. We can resume when either side has a change in stand which can lead to better talks.

.
This is really concerning, the problem is indian culture,if we send them sweats and pretend to be cool than they think we are afraid of them.Nawaz sharif i agree is soft on heart and wanted to have good relations with india but in return india govt thought as if pakistan is afraid of india.

As i have said in the past, better relations with india is good for india but bad for Pakistan.

ofcourse we should not go to war but atleast we should have no diplomatic or trade relations with india until they give up kashmir or the rest of our territory

Trade relation really ?

On topic:I thought Pak Foreign office might be better than this. But now it seems wrong.
If kashmir is the milestone foreign policy of Pakistan then Pakistan is not centre foreign policy of India .Perhaps it was like that a few decades.
Now India dont need to consider our western attention seekers.

Pakistan wants Kashmir from India, and sir creek, demilitarisation of Siachen, talks on water sharing.

But what does not it bring to table??

Except trade(which is actually beneficial to both sides), there is nothing in Pakistan that India wants..So any talks, rather any resolution of issues in far more beneficial to Pakistan than India.

Then why should India initiate talks with Pakistan or even bother with them ?

Negotiations happen between equal parties and not where, one party only wants things and can give nothing back in return.
