Pakistan urges world to put pressure on Myanmar

Islamabad has urged the world to put pressure on Myanmar, where renewed violence has forced out tens of thousands of Rohingya Muslims.

Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif says the Rohingyas’ plight is “a challenge to the conscience” of the world and that Pakistan was committed to providing humanitarian aid to them.

The ministry issued a statement containing Asif’s opening remarks at a conference of Pakistani diplomats on Thursday.

Political parties and clerics have organised rallies across Pakistan to express their solidarity with Rohingyas and to condemn Myanmar’s leader Aung San Suu Kyi for the reported massacres of Rohingya Muslims.

The government of Myanmar has counted 400 deaths and says most were terrorists.

The latest violence began on Aug 25 after insurgent attacks on police. The government forces retaliated with what they called “clearance operations”.

UN says 146,000 have now fled Myanmar violence
The United Nations says some 146,000 people have fled Myanmar into Bangladesh since August 25.

UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said on Wednesday that the World Food Programme is appealing for $11.3 million to support the influx of people and those already living in camps.

The UN agency has provided food to tens of thousands of people, with Dujarric describing women and children arriving there as “hungry and malnourished.”

Dujarric also said UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres “is continuing his diplomatic contacts regarding the situation in Myanmar.”

The Myanmar government’s top security adviser claims an insurgent group that attacked 30 police posts two weeks ago is trying to carve out a separate Muslim state from the Buddhist-majority nation, and the armed forces are using maximum restraint in their operations against them.

Myanmar’s National Security Adviser Thaung Tun said at a news conference on Wednesday in the capital, Naypyitaw, that security forces are making every effort to avoid harming innocent civilians. He was responding to accusations that the army and police fired indiscriminately on civilians and razed Muslim Rohingya villages after the attacks on the police posts in Rakhine state.

Myanmar must allow humanitarian groups to distribute aid in Rakhine: Norway
Norway’s foreign minister called on Myanmar’s leader, Aung San Suu Kyi, and her government to allow humanitarian groups to distribute aid in violence-wracked Rakhine state, deeming limits on their work “extremely serious.”

Norwegian Foreign Minister Borge Brende said on Wednesday that the Norwegian government is deeply concerned about escalating violence and the deteriorating humanitarian situation of the Rohingya. He said “all groups must show restraint,” but stressed that “authorities, under the leadership of Aung San Suu Kyi, have a particular responsibility to protect civilians from abuses, to stop the violence and to ensure humanitarian access.”

Bangladeshi PM asks officials to prepare a database with fingerprints for new arrivals
A Bangladeshi disaster management official says the country will set up a new camp to accommodate Rohingya Muslims who have arrived from Myanmar since August 25.

But Shah Kamal of the Ministry of Disaster Management did not say when the new camp would be ready. He said on Wednesday that the camp would be established in Tyingkhali, south of Cox’s Bazar district and near the established camp in Balukhali where more than 50,000 Rohingya have been sheltering since October.

Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has asked officials to prepare a database with fingerprints for the new arrivals.

Cox’s Bazar official Ali Hossain said the plans were still under discussion, and the government was coordinating with international agencies to handle the “very complicated” situation.

He said officials were visiting the area and, “if necessary, we will take 400 acres or more land for the new establishment. The Bangladesh government will take responsibility.”

Or better, Pakistan should send planes to drop some freedom on Burmese...
Bangladesh is the closest. Pakistan may help but if your govt asks Pakistan formally. Rohingya are ethnically Bengali people but still we are raising our voice for them however it is the Bangladesh who needs to take the lead on this issue. As of now, your govt is helping Myanmar.

why didn't pakistan call china yet......?

no other countery has the influence on myanmar more of china...
Things are being discussed. Not everything is made public. Pakistan has openly voiced its concerns and China is aware of them. We are working with friendly countries to arrive at a solution.

.
if Pakistan TUrkey can send military and strong backer with BD military then we can do a lot to keep the muslims safe in burma no more refugees crisis

Rohingyas are not Bengali. It's like saying Koreans japs are Chinese, cause they look alike and have similar culture and language is close!

Rohingyas are separate ethnicity, their language has its own script etc. Don't mix them with Bengalis. Definitely they are not Bangladeshi origin, nor citizens (unless if any has been granted citizenship in the past).

Don't expect anything good from BD Government they are Indian slaves.

Sir, please prepare your govt that seems to be only reluctant rather helping Myanmar. Pakistan has no land access to Myanmar also the it is really far in waters too. The strategic weapons can of course reach but they are out of question. Pakistan may not even help with military personnel due to certain historical issues but we will help you with military equipment, medical supplies, doctors, food and cloths, even money despite the fact we are passing through difficult times but still our hearts beat with you guys and we people of Pakistan will contribute generously. However as the old saying goes charity begins at home, please convince your govt, let our Rohingya brothers come in and we will be there with whatever we have. We love you all.

.
Pakistan should keep well away from this. It has got nothing to do with us. I could not about the Muslim world. They have never helped or benefitted us ever. We tried to help the Afghans and look where that got us. To hell with the Muslim world , apart from Turkey. The only countries that matter to Pakistan are China and Turkey. All others are irrelevant.

1947: 1 million Pakistanis killed by sikhs. The whole world was silent and no one was ever held accountable. The sikhs got there commupance by the glorious operation bluestar in 1984

2001-Present: the imposed american WOT has cost 70,000 Pakistani lives. The world stood silent.

It's about time we Pakistanis look after ourselves and our own before we begin to cry for Palestinians, Rohinga etc. We have suffered far more than these people. Only difference between Pakistanis and these guys is that we emerged victorious and stronger after our tragedies. They havn't.

Pakistan First :pakistan:
There is always middle way. BTW it is not true that Islamic world did not help us. There is plenty of evidence that we got help from our brothers in the time of the need. Furthermore, our own leadership is responsible for many fvck ups. Indonesia gave us a submarine in 1965 war that kept Indian rats locked up in their harbours and you were able to do Dwarka with all your Naval fleet inside enemy waters
Similarly, after 1998 when sanctions were imposed on Pakistan, KSA provided you oil for all those years at discounted price. There is a long list and of course we paid them back, however, take this an exchange between brothers, whenever there is a need they help but what can they do if we have corrupt and crooked people like NS and similar is the case with Bd. Right now, they are being ruled by an ugly Gremlin (as my brother @django named her :partay:) so even if we (Pak & Turkey) want to help eagerly, she is detrimental. So it is unrealistic of our Bangla brothers to expect help from us but they can't control their own govt. I just pray the situation becomes better.

I agree 100%, KSA, Iran (during Shah time), Turkey...Indonesia have all helped us in our time of need, obviously their is going to be limits to their help as they all have needs of their own, in regards to the ugly gremlin Hasina, she was elected by Bengali people, they have to live with their choice, if they want a more proactive govt (Rohinga issue) they need to boot her out at next election period, only then will the possibility of greater and much needed cooperation in regards to Rohinga can come to fruition.Kudos bro

This is one of those rare occasions that I agree with you.:agree:

Hasina has shown what a heartless and uncaring bitch she is with her mishandling of the Rohingya crisis.

Exactly sir, and thanks for adding Shah of Iran's positive role. Neither Pakistan nor Turkey alone has super powers and a large blue navy to take on Burma. We all have our limitations but still we want to help sincerely and it won't be a favour on Bd or Rohingya. It is our duty and responsibility. But still its Bd to take initiative for obvious reasons only then we can be of any help otherwise our capacity to help will be limited.

Plus there was and still is a lot of help coming from our brother countries that never made it to the public especially by the GCC states whom some of our people like to demonise as a duty. We when call Afghans ingrates, I think we shouldn't act like one either. I love Pakistan but I want to be fair and honest.

Instead of lecturing them why dont you boot Mr Sharif out as you consider him the reason behind failure of your nation:lol:
Under which rock have you been living in :o:... We have already done so and there is a lot of pain in Modi's generous 58" rear. BTW you should put a number plate on his behind.

So in other words......all talk and no action. Well at least it's something. Well it might move China to pressure Myanmar which would be more effective.

Bad comparison. Koreans, Japanese, and Chinese all have very different languages from 3 different language families.

.
Please stick to the subject. Not every thread deserves to sink to the usual Indo-Pak shit show.

On the subject of Myanmar, Pakistan can only act indirectly and its influence is limited in all respects. It falls on not only Muslim nations but the entire international community to speak up against what's now been described as an on-going pogrom.

Maybe in future...

For now, let us learn some important lessons! And enriche our wisdom...
