Pakistan to raise Kashmir issue at UN meeting

Pakistan is incomplete without Kashmir. It has every right to go to war for the people and territory it considers its own. If the UN cannot be a platform for peaceful resolution of territorial disputes. It is a waste of time and resource.

I expect the FM to touch upon pollution and environmental concerns of the region and Pakistan's initiative to counter them along with the assertion towards financial transparency in the modern age.

about Sindh, Balochistan, Pashtuns and AJK dams

That is related to other stuff not interference in the sovereignty and claiming the land for referendum. Only low iq and uneducated dignitaries at UN would compare such with Kashmir. The right way would be to discus IWT not referendum and Kashmir.

Not only Kashmir but Indian sponsored terrorism in Pakistan must be raised as well with Kulbashan Yadev as the poster boy. Though I have serious doubts about Shah Mahmood Qureshi ability to forcefully raise issues. He is too diplomatic in his tone and selection of words. That's why I believe Shireen Mizari would have been a better choice for this role.

India retains full right to retaliate Pakistan the way Pakistan is doing in Kashmir.

UNITED NATIONS: When some 146 world leaders gather at the United Nations General Assembly in New York this week, they are expected to discuss issues of international peace and security as several conflicts from Syria to Yemen rage on, defying any resolution.

The Pakistani delegation will be led by Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi who arrives in New York, which houses the UN headquarters, from Washington on Sunday night. It will be the new Pakistani government’s first senior level interaction with the United Nations.

Take a look: Pakistan won’t abandon peace efforts, says Qureshi

However, the much-heralded India-Pakistan foreign ministers’ meeting was called off by New Delhi citing an incident in occupied Kashmir.

According to Pakistani officials, a busy programme awaits the foreign minister who will attend at least 40 events and hold about two dozen bilateral meetings.

The highlight of his visit will, of course, be his speech in the General Assembly on Sept 29 in which he will set out the new government’s priorities and its position and policy on key international and regional issues including the situation in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in the light of UN Human Rights Council’s report which has cited India of violations. New Delhi bristles at the mention of occupied Kashmir and human rights violations there.

Pakistan’s foreign minister is expected to deliver his speech in Urdu language.

Daunting challenge
This year, the diplomats here say, the big and daunting challenge that looms over the gathering is actually one of the world leaders: US President Donald Trump.

It is a known fact that US President Trump is not a fan of the UN. In the past, he has criticised the UN calling it a club of sorts. And he has also proposed steep cuts to US funding for the UN that the world body has said would make it impossible for the organisation to maintain its essential operations.

The US is the biggest financial contributor to the UN in the world and its most important player when it comes to decision-making on issues ranging from food aid to peacekeeping to nuclear non-proliferation.

So now all eyes are on President Trump, who will preside over a UN Security Council meeting which is going to focus on the Middle East, and Iran in particular.

The big question baffling the world leaders is: will President Trump behave like past American presidents have and speak in measured tones about the need for global cooperation on various fronts, diplomats here say.

Or will he try to break things — degrade the UN, issue threats to other countries, and propose actions that suggest the US wants to go it alone.

Part of growing up is knowing when to let go. It's been 70 years.

Raise Kashmir at every forum and every meeting, with any head of state.

India does this with nothing issues like fabricated Balochistan, KP, Sindh propaganda.

Why can't we show some guts when we are on the truth and our cause is just?

Pakistan has raised the Kashmir issue in every forum, in every country, with every leader, briefed international media, and complained to anybody who's willing to listen. Still the needle has barely moved on Kashmir because Pakistan is weak politically, economically and diplomatically, and will be so for some time.

Nope. India recently used the UNHRC stage to ramble on about Sindh, Balochistan, Pashtuns and AJK dams. This was a clear escalation, even if it was an incoherent and half witted attempt, not to mention pointless. As far as the UN is concerned, Kashmir dispute is being connected up with everything else. I guess we need to thank Modi.

I also think this is huge failure for Pakistan and will be a defeat if Pakistan doesn't use brain. India is successfully linking IOK with Balochistan, Sind, KPK, etc. Balochistan, Sindh, KPK is like khalistan, assam, tripur, tamiaddu, South Tibet, etc not similar to IIOKOK which is a disputed territory. Pakistanis are getting used to of this as we are not using brains.

First thing first, your fat cow Sushma will be giving her speech before SMQ. So Pakistan will have the advantage to edit the speech as per the situation.

Secondly, Kashmir is a disputed territory as per UN to which India agree as well, any area in Pakistan is sovereign part of federation of Pakistan. Your Kulbi boy was caught red handed conducting terrorism in the sovereign land of Pakistan hence the open and shut case of Indian state sponsored terrorism.
