A good radar but not a good package overall. The ESM/ELINT/ECCM sensors on SAAB Erieye are miles ahead from ZDK sensors. KJ-500 rectified the problem somewhat for ELINT/ESM sensors by externally mounting them. Then the factor of SAAB AESA radar vs ZDK PESA radar.
يا شيخ , اين انت من وقت كثير ؟؟؟؟

Other things aside. Yesterday, while passing by Rawalpindi airport at around 4:30pm I saw a twin engine propeller aircraft take off with a bluish belly. I thought "that is a thin aircraft"
Now, I feel that might have been SAAB 2000. It looked similar. This gives rise to a question.
Are we going to put the Eeriye system on the planes by ourselves???

. .
Why go for such expensive planes when chinese are offering their top of the line j10 and j20 at cheap rates ?

We want a good mix

Its why we have been linked to both J31_& TFX 5th gen platforms

The Pakistan Air Force chief, Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman, told AFM in late April that the air arm is set to receive three new Saab 2000 Erieye airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) aircraft. The first will be delivered in December and the remaining pair will arrive next year.

They will boost the PAF’s AEW&C fleet, which is currently made up of three Erieyes serving 3 Squadron and four ZDK-03s with 4 Squadron.

Saab issued a press release on May 15 announcing that it had signed an AEW&C contract worth SEK 1.35bn (£120m), with deliveries being made from 2017 until 2020. It will not disclose the customer, as is its usual policy, but it is likely this is the same deal.

Two of the PAF’s existing Erieyes were seriously damaged in a terrorist attack on PAF Base Minhas in August 2012, but have now been returned to service. Both were rebuilt by PAF personnel at PAC Kamra with support from Saab – the last aircraft returned to service in 2016.

The PAF ordered four Erieyes in 2005, and these were delivered during 2009-11. Under Project Vision, initiated in 2000, the PAF has built up its own indigenous C4I system couple with surveillance systems and surface-to-air weapons. Information datalinked from both the ZDK-03 and Erieye is merged at the PAF’s Air Defence HQ at Chaklala, to provide the PAF with a single recognised air picture. Alan Warnes

Have we ordered latest Global Eye or same old version?

. . . .
10 AWACS isn't it many???

how many PAF needs??

Nope, for three commands you need at least 9 AWACS, 03 AWACS for each command (1 in service, 1 standby, 1 on duty/station) now PN also need coverage for air and sea threats so southern command will need at least 2 more (1standby, 1 on duty/station).

. .
At least explain what you've got there to foreigners... :)
chicken karahi , its made up of cooked tomatoes ,oil , and speciality is green chillies...only pakistani dish with many different cooking ways and recipies....do visit pakistan , notify me , i know many places where excellent karahi are made especially karachi superhighway dhabays

.
How do you know? is there any official release of the specs?

Not putting money into Upgrading ZDK-03 to KJ-500 standard and going to the same spec Erieye which Pakistan is having instead of going for the Upgraded one with 70 % percent more range indicates

1.) Pakistan is not at all satisfied with Chinese AWAC and ZDK-03 was forced down the throat of PAF. All the unofficial reports of ZDK-03 has a greater range than Erieye was just a hogwash

2) ZDK-03 does not provide the Same ECCM/ESM sensors that Erieye is providing

3). Pakistan doesnot have money to buy upgraded SAAB, hence keeping to the same one that they bought 10 years ago.
