Pakistan Struggles with Yemen Coalition Dilemma

When did I say it is always right?
I just said your comment on Korean war is BS.
And that wasn't about opinion, that was about a known fact.
there are many things which most pakistanies think are facts but in real world ...khair jane do lagge rahosirji ;)

Can Pakistan afford to say no to the Saudis ?
Shooting the messenger is not going to solve the problem
Yes, they can and they can continue secular and embrace China. China financial power more than Saudi can muster. We have a national forex reserve of 4 trillion which Saudi can never match.

Another Opinion Worth Considering

Recently lot of news is coming out regarding Pakistan sending its troops to Saudi Arabia for Yemen Border. Many people think that this is not right. But lets take a step back and see how these two countries have worked with Pakistan in past.

Pakistan nuclear test:

When many countries around the world put economic sanctions and trade block to Pakistan on testing nuclear devices Saudi Arabia provided petrol to Pakistan free of charge for 4 years. Thing to remember is that out of these 4 years 2.5 years were of Musharraf era. So this gift was not for any particular person but for the people.

Bailout Package

Recently Pakistan foreign exchange reserves went down pretty drastically, deteriorating Pakistan credit rating thus driving the cost of borrowing. Saudi Arabia once again stepped in and provided around US $1.5 billion.

Pakistan Iran gas pipeline:

Pakistan Iran gas pipeline was one of the most expensive gas deals. Iran is charging $15/ MMBTU. However, Turkmenistan is supplying gas to Japan at a rate of $4/ MMBTU (2).

Foreign Remittances:

Pakistani sent US $3 Billion in foreign remittance to Pakistan from Saudi Arabic. No amount is mentioned regarding Iran (1).

Pakistan Nuclear Program:

It is a known fact that only high ranking official of one country is ever allowed to enter Kahuta Nuclear facility of Pakistan and that is of Saudi Arabia. It is also a known fact that the initiation of nuclear proliferation case against Pakistan and vilification campaign against Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan (the known father of Pakistan Nuclear Program) was due to Iran. The one whom we tried to help as a friend and which in turn tried to stab our back and get our nuclear program rolled back.

Other Roles:

Saudi Arabia:

Saudi Arabia has not only helped when asked like after nuclear blast, but it has also helped voluntarily on number of occasion with different projects like Shah Faisal Mosque, large donations when flood or other calamities hit Pakistan.

Iran:

Iran has twice invaded Pakistan international borders and killed our men (3). Iran is involved in directly funding fiqah-jafriya and other terrorist organizations in Pakistan. Apart from some very limited humanitarian aid, Pakistan has never been given any meaningful help from Iran.

Iran is directly involved in proxy wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Bahrain, Yemen simultaneously. There forces are on record spreading anarchy in these region. Another thing to consider here is that Syria, Lebanon and Yemen all have around 15 – 20% Shia population and in Pakistan also we have around 20% Shia population. So this itself is a very serious question for Pakistan.

Lesson: Remember the True History

when Pakistan helped against the Taliban did all the sunnis fight the government? this yemen issue has nothing to do with shia sunni. let's be realistic

Did someone listen to Khawaja Asif on Shahzeb Khanzadas prog on geo, right now?He said tht Saudi expects Pak to fully support them on Yemen.. Means they want Pak forces to act in Yemen..not...just for Saudis stability ... So does it mean Pak is really going inside Yemen? Khawaja Asif's tone indicated tht Pak might go...inside Yemen..though he did not say tht... But uptil now...he and other govt ministers were stressing again and again tht our forces will go only ...for Saudis sovereignty and stability...but now, he didnt reinforce tht......he avoided....and said .....whatever decision will be taken....will be taken by parliament......... But we shouldnt be going inside Yemen.. Just some troops should be sent for Saudis internal security not get involved in this war agst Yemen.. @Horus @Icarus @Irfan Baloch any update or info on this issue?

The most important point should be: Will KSA accept a 'token' offer of help from Pakistan? Clearly, if all Pakistan is offering is a protection of KSA territorial integrity then I don't see that being threatened by the Houthis.

KSA would like to get much deeper help but Pakistan would like to offer the least amount of help.

Pakistan MUST refuse beyond any token help. No amount of Arab oil or workers' remittance is enough of a payment to buy eternal hostility of a big and generally tolerable neighbor like Iran. Even if KSA were to offer to give Pakistan $100 BILLION in cash then Pakistan must refuse.

Is that how you respond after making a completely deluded and un-educated statement? "B-but Pakistanis think wrong things too!"

Saudis & Gulf states provide employment to several million Pakistani workers. they have provided oil at concessional rates. Is China willing to spend its wealth on Pakistan ?

There are more Indians in the Persian Gulf working than Pakistanis. There are also millions Bangladeshis and Sri Lankans. The Chinese aid to Pakistan is mostly tied to China-India tension than to China-Pakistan relations. US aid to Taiwan also results in Chinese gifts for Pakistan.

India does not owe anything to the Gulf states. We are not beholden to them in any way Pakistan or Nawaz Sharif is

Calculate the following ratio for India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh - gulf expatriates as a percentage of the population
You will see Pakistan is dependent on them in a way India is not
