Pakisatn Song for Bangladesh. The song is in Urdu, one of Pakistan's two official languages. But it is also sung in Bengali, the language most commonly spoken in Bangladesh. The two countries share a common language and culture. Many families are divided between them; the song is about a Pakistani who dreams of seeing his family in Bangladesh. The song has caused quite a stir in Pakistan. Many are hailing it as a sign of normalization between the two countries, which have been estranged since 1971. That's when East Pakistan broke away to become Bangladesh after a civil war against West Pakistani rulers. In recent years relations have improved, with trade increasing and many people crossing the border without visa problems.

We are one,
we are one
We are the children of the sun
We are the ones who live and die
We are the ones who fight for liberty
We are the ones who make our country strong
We are the ones who don't give up till we won
We are a peaceful nation and that's what
We'll be We may be small, but we're not afraid of war

The photographs and the song made me nostalgic for the time when we were the same country. Personally, I understand Urdu, if not Shaeri Urdu, because I lived with the Muhajirs from India for quite a number of years in the northern part of east Pakistan where Urdu-speaking Muhajirs were the majority.

Thanks for uploading the video. The song is beautiful and well-composed. There is a touch of eastern Bengal dehati melody in it. Very beautiful!!!

I absolutely bloody love this.
We need more steps like these to allow people to openly share the love that has been hidden for far too long.

I can see Mother-e-Millat Fatema Jinnah in east Pakistan making a public meeting. Sk. Mujib is seen beside her.
