Pakistan seeks clarification from Bangladesh on harassment of PIA crew, passengers

Pakistan has contacted Bangladesh High Commission, seeking clarification on Bangladeshi security agencies harassing Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) crew and passengers, Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson Tasneem Aslam said on Thursday, Express News reported.
According to PIA sources, Bangladeshi intelligence officers have been harassing PIA officials for the past two months. Yesterday, PIA flight PK-266 was delayed for three hours for security checks.
PIA Station Manager Ali Abbass was also held by the security forces in Bangladesh and was later deported to Pakistan. Several raids have also been conducted on the houses of PIA officials on suspicion of smuggling fake currency.
On December 31, the Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) also arrested an employee of PIA at Benazir Bhutto International Airport for drug trafficking who was scheduled to fly to Birmingham, UK.

The aviation authority’s steward, identified as Irfanullah Shah, was arrested in possession of 4.5 kilogrammes of hashish concealed in his bag.
An ANF official, who requested not to be named, told The Express Tribune that the suspect, who hailed from Swabi, has been serving in PIA as steward for the last eight years. He was arrested outside the departure lounge during routine surveillance.

I can understand these r the acts of few individuals. This is not the first time Pakistan crew have been caught doing wrong things.Just a few days ago I read some Pakistani nationals were executed for drug smuggling in Saudi Arabia

PIA Decides to Close Flight Operation in Bangladesh

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on Thursday decided to close its flight operation in Bangladesh following the deportation of its Station Manager Ali Abbas by Bangladeshi authorities.

Bangladeshi authorities had conducted a raid on Abbas’s residence in Dhaka three days ago and deported to him to Pakistan yesterday, accusing him of smuggling fake currencies and gold.

According to PIA authorities, Bangladeshi intelligence agencies are harassing PIA employees from the last two months and yesterday PIA flight PK-266, which was set to take off for Karachi from Dhaka, was delayed for more than three hours for security checks.

PIA authorities also claimed that Bangladeshi intelligence also tortured Abbass during interrogation.

Following the decision to close flight operation in Bangladesh, PIA’s flight Pk-266, which was scheduled to fly to Dhaka from Karachi today, was also cancelled.

Meanwhile, government has contacted Bangladesh High Commission, seeking clarification on harassment of PIA crew.

Foreign Office spokesperson Tasneem Aslam said today that the Bangladeshi government has not given any reason to Pakistan regarding raid on Abbas’ residence.

PIA crew have been caught smuggling heroin into the UK and the EU , involved in fake passport rackets, fake marriage rackets, stealing from hotels they stay in, being drunk while flying and sexual assaults.
PIA crews are watched by UK authoroties especially as they are well known in the UK for all sorts of criminal behaviour
