probably a week a ago, news was out that a Iranian Drone was downed by JF-17 .. in 4-5 KM inside Pakistani Territory and so Iranians gone crazy over it , some of them even Threat Pakistan for consequence like they are Uncle SAM's grandfather

This is shrewd move indeed. Would contain the local youth from getting derailed. Will drain the Talib's recruitment. Local guys would be the best eyes and ears of the govt forces. Fyi, the idea behind the Brits raising Frontier Corps was this.

The hardcore militants had only one cure, bullet to the head, the foot soldiers at best can / could be rehabilitated and given some skilled labor that too under watchful eye................ if the hardcore ones were either killed or were driven out of the area to Afghanistan ............ why would Pakistan trust security of its most hostile region at hands of foot soldiers left behind? It would have made some sense if Wazirs were given this role ............ this news at best smells urine and dung cooked somewhere in some NDS office.

And India recruits Nepalese Gurkhas. Also Tibetans into ITBP, Ladakh Scouts / Lama Army. Also IA raised the Naga Regt, Assam Rifles and some less known local militia from NE.

The logic of the British in raising FC, and India and Pakistan in raising similar outfits is same. Look around in history and even these days, nations are raising similar militias in their interest.

Interesting -- this is generally a complicated issue -- I don't have much knowledge of transitional justice mechanisms like the truth and reconciliation mechanism in South Africa or post conflict Rwanda.

Further not to repeat the obvious: young men, who have nothing to do spell trouble -- this is a universal phenomenon -- add to that a lot of these young men are not married or have sexual outlets and your get a tinderbox

At the end of the day -- people will judge this by how successful it was -- similar efforts in the neighborhood have a mixed report card. The Indian government was relatively successful at re-integration/turning many Kashmiri militants of the 1990s; the ALP effort in Afghanistan has been a very mixed bag.

Duh!!!!!

I got that the first time u mentioned FC. But they already HAVE FC. Recruiting from people specialising in killing FC for unaccountable militias - when apparantly you have the upper hand - that wisdom i was highlighting. But you went on abt nepali gurkhas etc etc.

Why do you have CRPF, Assam Rifles, Ladakh Scouts, ITBP and many others? Because each have different roles and are meant to operate in different environments.
